Don't you just love people who feel they have to give advice when they don't understand the topic or have no knowledge of a product?

Well, it does make for some interesting reading. Not so good for the people that are being misinformed though.

You need a better camera. At least tell the wife that. Just kidding. I feel for you. I'm old enough to be not so steady. What has helped me is a decent monopod. Best $100. I ever spent.

"e=wierdphotoguy]I am surprised you can fathom anything. Does "photoguy" suggest I may be feminine? I have read some of your posts. And "inflicting dribble" sounds like a salivary assault.

So you don't like my avatar, big deal. It wasn't composed, it was a quick shot of a goofy dog. I didn't use it as a paradigm for photography skills, I used it as a token to honor her on the one year anniversary of her untimely death, and it is the wierdest pic of her I have.

And the misspelling of weird is intentional; I'm wierd that way. I wouldn't expect you to understand.

As for my contribution to this thread, I have contributed more sound advice than you or your friend JR1 have. Why do you feel the need to attack me or my avatar? Because you agree with JR1 in thinking the OP thinks this is 1913? Because you feel you need to defend JR1?

So I posted a comment that poked a little fun at his thoughtless remark; all in fun. He took umbridge and startded flinging crap and I stepped away. Now that he has stopped trying to agitate me, you come along and insult me. Stop being such a dag and go take some photos.[/quote]

1/. I can fathom a lot and who the heck is "photoguy"? I do not suggest you may be feminine, if true however that can remain as your little secret. Dribble is what silly old buggers do when they can no longer control their bodily functions.
2/. On the other hand, wIErd you may be, at least you say so. Most weird people who are weird, including myself, don't even know it.
And that IS weird....
3/. I don't need to defend JR1, I just thought I'd join in the fun, after all, our OP has in all probability bitten into his proverbial strychnine capsule by now.
4/. Your doggie looked like a good friend....I feel for you that he died....

Cheers and regards wierdphotoguy, Rob.

Didn't you notice? Here on the 'hog, having hardly any information available to us doesn't hinder our ability to give an answer ;)

I guess that means that there are a lot of experts with differing advice. Leads to a lot of alternatives for the unknowing.

And just exactly what Nikon body are you referring to?
No Nikon DSLR has VR in the body, never has. All Nikon DSLR VR systems are built into each particular lens and optimized just for that lens.

Trust in anotherview.

He has impressed me as a pedantic pedagogue who can be prodigious taking references from other sources.

He appears to think that others are beneath him. Just my opinion - or you may consider that I have another view.

Come on guys. Can't we remain civil. Almost every thread I have looked at on Hedgehog today turned in to a verbal slugfest.

Thanks, she was dumber than a box of rocks, but she was so good natured and loving that you couldn't help but like her. That's why that crappy pic taken after dark with on camera flash is there; she was truly weird and the photo shows her personality.

Hey, anybody seen Wilkins? There is four pages of advice sitting here waiting to be picked up. Some of it is junk mail, but I'd hate to have to return it to sender. :-D

This is the reason I never post any comments.
A high percentage of people are generous with their contributions but displays like this is cause for concern bordering on childlessness.

My two cents.

I made no assumptions about anyone's abilities. I was speculating that there may be an underlying reason for the constant use of a tripod. Hence the word perhaps.

This is like talking to a child. You can bait me all you want, I am leaving this thread. The OP has not provided more information about the problem so perhaps you were accurate in your advice, and the tripod was the cause of the poor focus. Hope you wake up someday and realize what an idiot you appear to be on the Hog.

This article nicely summarizes the whole thing.

The OP seems to have lost interest or would have posted some examples I think.

Hello chinaman
yep sounds like you are breaking all the rules of photography.
I went to view some of your post and strongly suggest keep being the ultimate amateur with your old gear.
You have posted some very nice pictures that any one would be proud of.my self included

saying hello from pittsburgh

Thank you northsidejoe. I was being a little tongue-in-cheek, but what I've said about my equipment, etc is entirely factual. I just work within the limitations of what I have and being lazy about how I do things - like not removing UV filter before adding on the polariser. Still waiting for Santa to answer my Christmas letters.
Recently visited Sydney, Australia and I'm working on the images to post. I have to say that I am very pleased with my shots. Watch this space.
