I consistently have a problem with photos with less than sharp focus. Using a tripod for.every shot means.I miss many good shots. Any suggestions for improving my photos will be welcome.

Is the OS, IS, VR, turned on on your lens?Is your camera on spot focus?

Is it on manual or auto focus?

Knowing what camera and lens combo you are using would help evaluate your problem. Some posted photos would help even more.

Watch your shutter speed, [1/focal lenght] second or faster to prevent camera shake and focus manually.

if using tripod turn off any stabilizers on your lens - manual focus the lens - use your timer so your camera can take the pic without you touching it - set timer to about 2 to 3 seconds then press your button it will start beeping step back let the camera take the pic - have a look at these using same method http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-117700-1.html   bri

Yes, don't use a tripod, this is 2013 not 1913, only use it when really needed.

It the tripod solves your lack of sharpness, focus is not your problem. Low shutter duration is likely the problem.

Sorry, I stopped reading his junk a while back. He may be a good photographer, but I have found so much blather that I don't find it worth the effort to sort through it to find the useful stuff.

I see where you get yours, though. Did you really think its good avice to tell a first time poster to stop using the tripod? Couldn't come up with something a little more thoughtful, like checking the shutter speed?

I read that article a while back; while it is amusing in some respects, it shows that he cares nothing about the feelings of people unlike himself. Several people took umbridge at his chiding; it may be the only way he can feel better about himself. May be the same reason you type before you think.
