Ammanda you can manipulate photos and move them around. Keep trying.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I will give these a try and hope to provide a short report-out in a few weeks.

I spend a few hours yesterday on Smile Box (the first suggestion). The issue I ran into is that most of the formats I liked distored vertical pictures, simply cropping off heads to force the picture into a horizontal format. Not ALL of them did this, but it was time-consuming to have to load the pictures and test them since it was unclear from the 3 picture sample shows (all of them always had horizontal pictures).

So, it will be a learning curve to see what best meets my needs but am looking forward to trying some that I have never heard of before!
Thanks for all the suggestions! I will give these... (show quote)

I use ProShow Producer. The beauty of this program is everything. As mentioned above, you can time the slide to the music. Now, I see you want to time the music. Go to this website and download Sonicfire Pro 5 (it's free); http://www.smartsound.com.

This program will let you set the music to whatever length you want. It comes with some music which I don't know if it's what you're looking for. But, you can always buy from them the format that lets you time the music to your liking.

Amanda, If you have photoshop elements you can make great slideshows on photoshop. I have made slideshows for our soccer program for the last 5 years with Photoshop elements. I have a MAC now and use Aperture this year for the first time for slideshows and it turned out great. Not really knowing what you have now, I'd start there. You can add music and adjust the music to small segments or run them as a loop. Good luck!

Two programs that may be worth looking at for you. 1-Proshop Gold. This software will adjust the lenght of your video images to the length of your audio file.

2-Search for "NCH" software products. Check out their "Mix Pad Audio Mixer." You can mix several tracks to achieve any length of audio file you want using their "edit" and "crop" functions.

Both compaines offer a free 30 day trial before you purchase. The learning curve for the NCH product can be pretty steep, unless you know all the audio software jargon.

I use both for many of my paid projects, creating my own audio mix files to fit the theme and intent of the video slide show.

Too Many Recomendations, too many religions, too many preachers, too many political factions, too many politicians, too many flavors of Ice Cream!!

Perhaps you should just copy down a few names of programs, download trials, do a few photos with with one music track just to get a feel. Or watch tutorials of them first.

If you just want to Email do a quick Photo Story 3, it makes a flash file which e-mails easily and will be no problem for any one to see. It does Ken Burns effect also. If you want to burn a DVD and have HiDef, then you need more.

But, you have more than enough suggestions that you may drown in them. Don d/p

Our local camera club did an extensive review last year looking for the best slide show maker (using a wide variety of criteria) and they decided that Pro Show Gold was the recommended program for all club presentations.

I have used it for the past 3 years and find that it does most things quite well. It even burns HD presentations onto Blue ray disks and integrated video and stills seamlessly.

ProShow Producer is more expensive, but takes things to another level that is probably more suitable for the person who is creating slide shows professionally.

Let us know what program you finally settle on as like most technologies, things seem to swing back and forth and there is always something new and better out there.

I would say check out a program called "Faststone". It's a free software download you can get to view your photos and even make a few creations such as contact sheets, album pages, and even a slide show that has several transition choices in how the slides change from one to another, etc. There isn't much variety in the album page designs for example, but you can even do some minor editing. I also have Adobe photoshop and love it more. Photoshop though usually isn't free. If you check Faststone out and decide you don't like it you can always delete it. Hope this is of some help. Faststone is what us college students use alot in our classes in photography.
