I am looking to make slideshows of about 20-25 pictures that will have a song that will start to play when the pictures start and the song will end at the end of the slideshow. All the slideshow programs I can find have songs that are 3-5 minutes long and take many more pictures 80 - 100+. I don't mind if the pictures are displayed longer than the usual 1-2 seconds; for example, 5 seconds per pictures would be fine.

I don't mind paying for this functionality and music if I can find the right fit. Any ideas?

Microsoft "Photo Story 3 for windows" freeware is very good for making a compact EMail-able file. It does music etc,, great program. There are some free addons - google to find.

I did a heavy duty search of Photo Slideshows a 18 months ago for doing my wedding slideshows. The best I found, forget price, was Ashampoos Slidshow Studio HD 2. As the name implies,it does HD presentations. Reasonable for $20.

This program does the typical, but does so easily, with no difficult learning. Has an outstanding feature, when you have a crop image, or have a vertical shot, the program picks a major color from the photo and blends with vignetting to fill the slide. Most just fill with black or a selected color. There is a trial download.

I have used Picasa for my kids soccer photos and added music to the slide show...I liked the way it turned out.

You can down load gillions of songs from places like Amazon's MP3's for $.98 each and add them to any slide program that is at all workable.

I have been using Proshow Gold since 2004 and then graduated to Producer a few years ago. Gold is about $70 and very well worth the money. After assembling your slide show and music, you can select sync music and it will automatically make your show the length of your song. There are a lot more bells and whistles than most slide show softwares and Producer is for the serious slide show maker. Both can be downloaded for a free trial.

+1 on Pro Show Gold. That's what I use (tho' not that much).
I love that you can choose how the images fade into one another - maybe they all do that.

Well, download and try all mentioned you have 30 days before you expire,,, or excuse me, the programs expire. Please, let us know which features you like best and which you finally chose and why... we need an up-to-date education.
Thanks, Don

Thanks for all the suggestions! I will give these a try and hope to provide a short report-out in a few weeks.

I spend a few hours yesterday on Smile Box (the first suggestion). The issue I ran into is that most of the formats I liked distored vertical pictures, simply cropping off heads to force the picture into a horizontal format. Not ALL of them did this, but it was time-consuming to have to load the pictures and test them since it was unclear from the 3 picture sample shows (all of them always had horizontal pictures).

So, it will be a learning curve to see what best meets my needs but am looking forward to trying some that I have never heard of before!
