I use Zenfolio - let's you focus on photography rather than website building. I've built my own website from scratch and now use Zenfolio. Others like Smugmug. Regardless, for a reasonable fee you can get up and running, including shopping cart and a photolab.
That's what I'd suggest.

I use jimdo.com as it is free; my profile link will give an example, though there are loads of templates to choose from. It's really easy to use and uses Search Engine Optimisation so that you can be found on Google!

Your pictures are very nice. Can you tell me, what lens are you using for your landscape photos?
Thanks

I find out sumgmug.com is the best for pictures and selling. I pay $40. a year for this www.snapshots2010.com and I get a lot of hits, its #4 on some search engines. Smugmug help with search engines. Website is some big deal goodie if you don't get the hits it there.
When you get a domain that is short and sweet and to the point. I have 4 domains now all go it the same place. At one time I had 100 all going to one website.
When you get your website get a google business account its free it helps. And look for free search engines and put your domain on all you can find. You got to get the hits, it takes about 3 to 6 months see start see the hits. Are pay goodie $200. and get them in the frist 10 listinging in a week.
When making up a website use key words like photos, pictures, photography, portraits, and so on. This is what search look for. JOE BLOW do get it.
1. Domain Name (buy it from godaddy.com best place)
2. Smugmug.com (Vistaprint.com has websites for $5. month)
3. Business cards with you domain and give them to every one you see. In my over 50 years in business I find one on one is the best you can get. Good luck anGODbless

Tried smugmug but found it confusing and did not want to learn its jargon for setting up a Web site. I also found the support at the time limited (because no telephone support) and unhelpful.

Tried LiveBooks recently and found it much simpler because mostly jargon-free and straightforward in its approach. Yet it does require some getting used to. The help topics do give useful guidance. A support staff stands at the ready to give help and guidance.

A learning curve evidently goes with setting up a Web site.

Note that LiveBooks in effect hides the fact that actually putting its Web site online also requires buying a Web domain name from a separate entity. The Web domain functionally supports the LiveBooks Web site in order to present the Web site to the Internet.

This purchased domain, however, lets the user pick a suitable name for its URL. For example, you may want the URL for your Web site to show your personal name as part of its description; for example, JohnDoePhotography.info.

As well, note that the annual cost of a domain name varies by the extension(e.g., .com, .info, etc.). Popular extensions cost more. I selected the extension .info for its low cost. The salesman told me that operationally no difference exists regarding the extension used. So I went with a low-cost domain extension (.info).

My business partner and I have a photo business and use Zenfolio. We have unlimited space and it works very well for what we need. You can also put video clips on it now to and that is great since my partner is the video guy. The cost to start is about $100.00 and the works are great. The site is www.zenfolio.com

I have been using Zenfolio for over 2 years and am very happy with it. A pro photographer friend is a fan of Smugmug. Either one would be a good choice I think for what you want to do. You can free trial Zenfolio for 2 weeks before deciding what level of support you need. It currently costs between US $30 - $250 depending on your needs. I suspect Smugmug also has a free trial. Good luck.

I will offer what I am doing and you can disregard or make things work for you from ideas you may get.

A you can see below I have a weebly website, this is a free version. I post pictures almost everyday on 365project.org. I have paid for a membership on 365project tht gives me three albums and unlimited pictures. This is $20 a year. I have links to those three ablums on my weebly website. However, because I am not trying to sell images or promate a photo business, this is working for me. It will not work for those who are trying to sell.

I have used WEBS.com for almost 2 years to run a HS Reunion web site. It is a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor with some great templates. It is free for the use and has minimal ads.
I have had up to three web "sites" running at the same time, one premium where I had user questionnaires. They will set up business sites for you and will convert to your domain when you wish. They are very good and I have had only a few issues (my side not theirs) in the past two years.
www.sbhs63reunion.webs.com is what I have .... 10 pages free

If you want to pay for hosting, BlueHost.com is pretty good, though you must use a program on your computer to design the site. That is a mixed bag, with many, many programs available.

Smugmug was up to $300 a year when i Quit them last year...Try 500pix Only $50 a year for the best package

Pugh don't pay that much! look at smugmug and zenfolio both are great , will allow you to customize their templates and sell prints.

I think they charge less.than $200 a year for their top of line packages, I would recommend the middle of the road since you are just starting out.

both site will allow you to set up client galleries and password protect them if you wanted as well.
