:) :) Ah, if only.
This spot is part of the Yakima River Canyon Scenic By-way. 18 miles long. In winter particularly, we see many eagles and bighorn sheep. Here's a blurb:
"This route follows the Yakima River, dividing the hills of sage covered desert between Yakima and Ellensburg. The basalt cliffs, some rising more than 2,000 feet, reveal a story of cataclysmic geologic events. The canyon is known for its year-round sport fishing and as a blue ribbon catch-and-release trout stream. The crevices and cliffs make a perfect home for the densest concentration of nesting hawks, eagles, and falcons in the state."
If you look at the photos of UHH member littlebiddle, you'll get some GREAT images of the wildlife in the canyon.
You know what? I like the fence in the foreground. I think it gives a better sense of scale to the distant tree and really emphasizes how 'alone' it is, as if fenced off from contact with anyone or anything else.
Good shot.

Always fascinated by this scene, though not sure if I have "lonely, desolate" or "surviving against all odds" going on here. Your input is welcomed.

Try cropping the bottom half of the photo and turn it into a pano. I just re sized my browser window to accomplish the look and was quite happy with the result. Just a thought.

Thank you big-guy! I like it! (getting closer isn't an option and I did want to show a lot of empty space. Plus I have a frame that's 12" wide, but just 5" tall, so I can hang it!)
