That may well be, Jerry, but you don't want to be on that rickety bridge over the Black River in NC with the rusted undercarriage when it collapses and takes 20 cars into the drink with it for lack of upkeep. That small trailer without a license plate won't save much cash sitting on the river bottom (with your NC friend floating next to it). Taxes & tolls---we all hate 'em, but they do serve a purpose. . . .

I agree. We pay a lot of taxes in NY, but I'm not complaining because we get something for our money. After all the graft, kick-backs, and corruption, there is still something leftover to improve the State and provide services.

I have the camera and just love it. I don't see any bugs but am sure that when the next model comes out changes will be made. For the money I find it exceptional. If you want a light take anywhere camera with many of the same advances as the 7100 try the P7700. As for where to buy it. B&H Adorama Beach Camera are just a few places to try
Good luck

That's always a concern: How much is the item? How much is shipping? Is there sales tax? Is the seller reliable? Boy, we go to a lot of trouble to spend our money. :D

The trick is to live in a state that doesn't have sales tax. I was visiting someone in NC, and he asked what the "thing" was on my windshield. It was an EZPass, a transponder to let me pay tolls automatically by just driving through the toll booth. He said they didn't have tolls in NC. On a recent trip to NYC, I paid $20 in tolls round-trip. He also said that he didn't have to buy a license plate for his small trailer.

Well, I couldn't resist the siren's call. My wife was born and raised here 87 years ago. She was worth far beyond the scandalous sales tax that we must endure to support NYC.

We didn't have a sales on Oregon either. We defeated it 17 times in referenda.

Amazon now charges sales tax for California residents. However, B & H, Adorama, and BuyDig do not. So, if I'm purchasing a cheap item (e.g. controller for Wii u), I have no problem purchasing from Amazon and paying the sales tax. But, if Nikkor 18-300mm for $700 (when on sale last month), then naturally, I buy from B & H or Adorama. BTW, remember, Best Buy will price match Amazon's prices. One sales clerk matched with no problem and on another occasion, another sales clerk said the item had to be "sold by and shipped from" Amazon. Go figure.

I live in a state (WA)with no state income tax but with a 9.6% sales tax. That is quite persuasive in deciding where to make a major purchase, which I used to do. Free shipping helps on physically large items such as a wide-format printer.

It must be interesting living near the border of a state with no sales tax.

This is absolutely "right on". In the US, our taxes are considerably lower than in Europe but our benefits reflect that, more so with health care. I agree, taxes are what keeps a country moving, assisting people with benefits. It's the small businesses that really suffer, I mean, we'll go to a place, ask questions, try out the stuff and then disappear only to go home and make the purchase online.

I just received my new D-7100 (body only) from Roberts Camera yesterday, to use as a back up to my D-700. It is a great camera, and no need to wait. I had it shipped to Pittsburgh and did not have to pay sales tax, only $13 and change for shipping. Roberts is as competitive as the major places, and gets the initial deliveries. I recommend them.

I'm assuming you didn't have to drive from TN to PA to pick it up so you could save on sales tax. :D

I've bought from Roberts, too. Good place.
