Is now the time to buy the new Nikon D7100 or should I wait and see if there are any bugs they need to get out. Also want to use old AF Nikon lenses on this camera. Will there be any problems doing that. Also what does everyone think about buying on line. I used to live in Chicago and bought everything at Helix, or Central camera. But now I live in SC in the country and no large camera stores are around. Thanks for your help
Cameta, Berger Brothers, B&H and several more are all good dependable on line places to purchase equipment. If your in doubt about a place, check

Amazon. Free Shipping and no sales tax.
Not only will the older AF lenses work on the 7100 you can even use AF lenses that don't have internal motors. I have a pretty old Tokina lens that works great on my 7000.
If you're worried about getting a proven body get a 7000, they are priced very nicely right now. If you want the improvements the 7100 has to offer, well, even if there are bugs they should be covered under warranty...

I buy everything online. Just be sure to deal with a reputable company. Check here if in doubt. See if you can get a D7100 refurbished, although it might be too soon for that.

I bought mine from B&H nothing but positive things to say about it. Yes your old Nikor will work and I have found no bugs. Buy it, you'll absolutely love it.

There is a sales tax if you order from NY state.
I bought the 7100, originally from one of the major on-line stores but because of passover they wouldn't ship. I happened to check one of the local stores and found a body only for the same price but I would have to pay sales tax. I did and couldn't be happier.
I have purchased cameras and equipment from Adorama, B&H and BuyDig; all excellent service. Incidentally, I am VERY pleased with the camera.
Just bought a body only from one of the Best Buy stores near me (same price as B&H, but had to pay tax). So far, so good. Love the high ISO sensitivity. Now I will be trying it out with my older manual focus lenses to see how they fair...I have already put 9 of them into the NON-CPU data fields in the menu system...I have attached an image @ ISO 3200 that I took last night at 7:50 pm. Used my 80-200mm F2.8 D ED lens @ 185mm, set to F5.6, SS 1/250th, handheld..

The trick is to live in a state that doesn't have sales tax. I was visiting someone in NC, and he asked what the "thing" was on my windshield. It was an EZPass, a transponder to let me pay tolls automatically by just driving through the toll booth. He said they didn't have tolls in NC. On a recent trip to NYC, I paid $20 in tolls round-trip. He also said that he didn't have to buy a license plate for his small trailer.

Most of the good guys have no shipping but I understand that soon, the sales tax freedom that has been enjoyed from buying out of state will soon be a thing of the past. So, do it now while you can.

That may well be, Jerry, but you don't want to be on that rickety bridge over the Black River in NC with the rusted undercarriage when it collapses and takes 20 cars into the drink with it for lack of upkeep. That small trailer without a license plate won't save much cash sitting on the river bottom (with your NC friend floating next to it). Taxes & tolls---we all hate 'em, but they do serve a purpose. . . .
