Oh aren't we funny! Actually it might improve the shot; at least make it more interesting. I think I just chose the wrong clouds to add.

You are exactly right about the clouds. I was excited to figure out how to do that and didn't take time to see how the clouds fit the final image. I do have some more fluffy clouds that would have been better. I had tried to do this in Photoshop, Elements 10 and some other programs, and ended up doing it in PhotoScape! It was so much easier than the Photoshop method.

llindstrand.....thanks so much for the comments and the work you put into the corrections! You did improve it immensely and I apprectiate the advice. I never thought about cropping out the other building...I usually have a pretty good eye for composition but I missed the mark here. Oh, and I am never offended when someone gives me constructive criticism!

Dear Mooseeyes....thank you for the wonderful compliment on my "blue daf". I was surprised when I actually liked it, not usually liking "effects" in PS and Elements. You made my day!! I don't think anyone else likes it, but as long as someone besides me does I am happy! And you do write great BS....

Thank you for the kind words. I do a lot of editing on my own pictures each year and am continually looking for ways to make them look better. Art is so subjective and what is good for one person is not for another. Years ago I saw the Church in New Orleans--it is one beautiful building. Your picture of it is beautiful. I like to take Churches and have a number of them as well as Missions on my website http://wwwlpphotosbyswede.com if you are interested. II am happy to help at any time.

Thank you so much. I love constructive criticism and always learn from it, so I am not offended by any comments. I am glad that you (being the second person) like my "blue daff". It's all in the eye of the beholder I guess.

I like all of them. For me the Cathedral would work better either with two gates or if possible have taken the photo standing more to the right using the walkway to lead into the photo. Also, the lighting on the clouds appears to me to be coming from the left, while the everything else the afternoon sun is on the right.
Also, while I like the last one (wine glass) I would have preferred a full reflection of the glass, but that's just me. Also, it is tilted as others have said.

Update: I posted without reading the second two pages of comments and didn't know what I commented about was already posted.

1, I like the dramatic sky and the Cathedral is just off center enough for a little visual tension. The slight tilt, not so much.

2. I wish it was larger.

3. Has a happy carefree feel to it. and the colors are terrific.

4. The "twinkle" on the top right of the glass is a nice touch. Not sure I like the sepia tone though , but thats just me.

Also, good luck on selling prints, that must be a thrill. I had a chance once to sell one of my Mt Rainier photos and was very excited about it, until I found that my backup CD's had become corrupted and I lost about five years of photos. Now I use two USB external drives for duel backups.

These are a few of my latest shots - I have been dabbling in Photoshop and although many of the filters and effects are too far out there, I have found a few that I like. Trouble is, I don't know if other people like these or not.

Unless my eye is getting bad (and that is certainly a possibility), it seems to me that the clouds are lit by the sun being from the left while the tree shadows show the light source being from the right.

I am SO GLAD that I wasn't the only one to notice that!!! I was wondering if my artist's perceptions were being deceived, and the clouds are just too wrong for the sky behind them. Talk about your weird weather conditions. The picture of the wineglass is cool, but where is the rest of the reflection there? The way it's cut off , it makes me feel like all of the picture isn't there.

i THOUGHT you added the clouds. the sun's reflection off the clouds indicates much later in the day; the full reflection of the sun on saint louis indicates the shot was taken in the morning.

Thanks tinosa....you are the first person who has noticed the "sparkle" on the rim. My photo club also said they would have liked to see the whole image of the wine glass. It was an experiment I read about to get a fake reflection. It is actually two wine glasses and I couldn't find two exactly alike so that gives it away.
THe Iceland photo was taken with my daughter's camera and she had it set on a very low resolution (she's a new DSLR user). I didn't realize it until later, now some of the wonderful shots we got are too small to enlarge. Oh well....on my next trip to Iceland -ha!

What a sad story! I never had that large a disaster but I did manage to delete all the High School reunion photos I had taken (by request). For some unknown reason I reformatted the disc after the fact and lost everything. That is why I will never commit to a wedding - that really would be a disaster!

Another New Orleans candid shot.

I cropped the cathdral and do like it better. When I have time I might insert new fluffy clouds, or maybe after cropping, it doesn't need anything else. The man on the bench was in the park while we were shooting and I couldn't pass it up - such a common sight around town. I don't think I disturbed him.

It is actually two wine glasses

What a great idea to stack two glasses bottom to bottom to look like a reflection. Will have to try it.

Sorry to hear about your low res shots.
