Is there a particular reason you say this ?
You mean besides all the improvements? Yes, the main bugbear with the D7000 for me is the lack of a lock on the mode dial. If you are continually removing the camera from a protective bag in dusty conditions, the mode dial can be easily turned by rubbing on the bag. Then you lose shots because your A mode becomes something else. And, when you are in a hurry (like the lion is about to run away) you don't have time to be checking and adjusting dials.
Just pulled the trigger on d7100
Should b here Tuesday !!!!'
I like Canon, because it seems to be more user friendly, however like I said, I have toooo many Nikon lenses....They were really smart in doing this....keeps you locked into Nikon

Take a look at the "reach" the 7100 has...
There are 2 "Image Areas" - DX (24x16) and 1.3 (18x12). If I remember correctly, using the 1.3 with a 1.4x teleextender about double the mm of your lens. 'bout blew my mind when I used a 2x with my 80-400 at 400mm.
I went from the D90 to the D7000 and never missed one thing from the 90. That being said, the D300 is very much in the same class as the D90 only more rugged with a better set of focus points.
The D7000 is half the price and twice the camera of the D300.
the D7100 is the upgraded D7000 and as such costs a lot more.
You are the only one who can make the buy decision based on your finances and imaging needs.
I would be hard pressed to buy the D7100 over the D7000 based on my photographic needs.
Already pulled the trigger on the D7100

I disagree ..... the D300s is an excellent pro camera and I'd choose it over the D7000
Had a D80 (sold it), had a D90 (sold it), D5100 (gone, son took it), D7000 gone (other son made love to that one) I still have and regularly use my D70s
Some equipment may make it easier but
..... it's the photographer that makes the difference .....
..... I recently used a D300s, liked it very much, this will be my next camera ..... If you're shooting anything that moves and you can't afford $6,000 for a camera body the D300s should be your camera of choice ..... anybody that claims that a D7000 can keep up with the tracking of the D300s is just kiddin them self .....

Hello all I'm new here but I sold my D90
Yesterday and can't decide between a D7000
Or D300s I have good glass and shoot mostly outdoors
I know the 7000 has much better high ISO performance .
Do I really need it ? Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
Just got myself the D7100 to companion my D600, used a D7000 for over 2 years. Awesome camera, still have it in the family, my son is using it. The D7100 is very good, but I loved the D7000. It is all that most of us require and more.

You wont regret your decision. I've been shooting d7000 since release and just got the d7100 and love it,especially in low light.

That's why I have a Canon. They get you locked in when you have a significant investment in lenses that work with their cameras.

I also have a D7000and D90 as back to minimize lens changing when outdoors
What happens ? I just use the D7000 as the functions are much better and more advanced
