Hello all I'm new here but I sold my D90
Yesterday and can't decide between a D7000
Or D300s I have good glass and shoot mostly outdoors
I know the 7000 has much better high ISO performance .
Do I really need it ? Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

I'll give ya the common answer first, which one do you like?
go to the camera shop and fire off a couple of times each one see which is comfortable for you, menus, ease of operation then make the choice based on fire rate and the amount of functions you need, then price it all comes down to price and what you get for it

I have a D7000. If I were you I'd get a D7100.

For what it's worth, so do I. If you like Ken Rockwell here is what he has to say about the 7100

If you're shooting sports of anything that moves fast ..... D300s, and it a pro weatherproof camera .....

If you want more modern electronics D7000

But you can't go wrong with either one

I was going to buy a couple of new 7Ds for work as I also have Canon lenses, then I took a look at the D7000, tested one for the weekend and bought 2 and a few lenses.

The sensor in the D300s is almost identical to the one in your D90. I think the image quality is better in the D7000. I have shot with a full frame D700 and the image quality of the D7000 is more in that league, especially at the higher ISO settings.

Please remember this..many people think that doubling the MP ability of any camera is twice as good...example, people think a 12mp is twice as good as a 6mp....Save your money, because it would take 24 mp to be even close to 12 mp in quality....I am saving my money until the big camera makers go to the foveon chip...that my friend will give up to 50 mp and beyond...The foveon chip is a three layer chip and quite expensive, but worth every cent.

I am a Nikon user and have a ton of lenses. The 7100 is quite a camera.

I "was" a Nikon user Nikkormat FTn the Nikon F Photomic FTn, then it was stolen, I was forced to get a Canon, I have since had Canons, I am NOT complaining when I picked up a D7000 two months back I knew what I had missed, it just has something I am unable to explain
