I use Jalbum.net. I think it's $39 per year. And you have a lot of design options as well as can set up a shopping cart to sell photos if you like. album.net/en/;jsessionid=167d3i4287ylzb397k8tcfx8d

Try Google Blogger, I have been using it for a couple of years and it is free. Check my site if you wish at kmacsphotos.com

Free or cheap is great, but explain what you like about the site you use please. There are so many options it is a bit overwhelming to choose a site.

The biggest selling factor for me for Fineartamerica was the cost and the ability to set my own prices and set up my own website. I REALLY like the professional version of smugmug, but it gets a bit pricey at I believe $35 a month. If I was selling a lot to clients I would go with smugmug, but if you just want a place to showcase your work FAA is a much more reasonable option.

Remember one thing about the choice you make up front....

You're often stuck with your choice for a long time. It's far more work to change a web site in terms of getting the word out, getting your contact from the site you are leaving, and such other configuration setups.

Imagine changing an eMail you have had for five years, and multiply the work to do that by a factor of, hmmm, say TEN.

Yes, definitely something to think ahead about.

Items such as ability to sell, how much storage space, ease of upgrade if not unlimited, connecting to print options, and so many other options to be considered.

I am an amateur photographer, and I would like to set up a website/blog to showcase my work without spending alot. Is it necessary to get a company to host your website? And what exactly does that do for your site? Any help is appreciated!

Depending on what you want to achieve, try Flickr - it's free.

Since I like to write little stories about the photos I present, I like the blog format and have been very happy with WordPress.

Feel free to check out my wildlife photography blog which I update daily. Today's post is BIF pics for the month of March.
