Whatever makes you happy, if you are good the photos do the talking, and instead of you arguing about anything people ask you... What are you shooting with. Then you realize sometimes it just doesnt matter. Sometimes it is the camera and sometimes it is the eye, the subject, the moment. Magic, history. Photography is so much more than what you hold in your hand. It is getting lost in the moment and making it last forever. When you can do that with a device called a camera it is DIVINE...

I have no comment on this topic. I think the big guys has said it all . ON the other hand it seems like you have a wealth of information. I would like to make my wife a better cook what stove would YOU recommend?

I have had both and actually if the camera models are comparable there is very little difference in my opinion.

If you are a photojournalist and find yourself in a street riot situation. There's no where to hide and shoot...you're just in the middle of it...you place your wrist through the camera strap and start swinging your DSLR with battery grip over your head like a helicopter...crowd control and escape...which camera is more likely to still capture the ensuing violence following several impacts on hairy heads....the Canon or the Nikon...which camera will bring home the bacon....take a lick'n and keep on tick'n...
(just stirring the pot for my own entertainment....)

Thats like saying the Aussie cricket team are better than our Englisg cricket team. One only has to look back at the last ashes series to see what happened. The same thing that will happen in the next 12 months when they meet again in the Uk and Aus. IF England lose either series I will eat both my Canons. If the Aussies lose will you manage to eat your NIkonor will you choke on it?

I started out shooting with a Minolta, but I could never get good pictures with it because it was too silver. I think it had to do with the way light was refracted away from the silver camera body. It didn't look like a potato, more like a rutabaga. Then I got a Canon, but I could never get good pictures with it, it was longer than it was tall, and my pictures seemed like the aspect ratio was never correct, and, yes, it did look somewhat like a potato. Then finally I got a Nikon, but I can't seem to get good pictures from it. I think it's because 'Nikon' makes cameras, but 'Nike' makes shoes. I wasn't wearing NIKe shoes when I was shooting with my NIKon. See it. And of course, it looked something like a Daikon Radish, but less potassium. So now I'm looking for another camera, but it is really frustrating trying to find one that takes good pictures.
I guess they just haven't figured out how to make really good ones yet. Go figure!

I thought everyone knew Nikon is better because their name has five unique letters whereas Canon only has four unique letters in their name.

I do get a kick out of the people who complain that this thread even exists yet, they complain about it in this thread, thereby prolonging the agony.

Arthor, I have had the privileged to call you a pain in the ass before and here we are doing a stupid dance again. Because of the questions you are consistently asking, I doubt if you have the experience or knowledge to make comments about Nikon vs, Canon. Both are good to excellent brands depending on which model you pick. So what do you do with cars? Probably drive a jeep, yet comment on folks driving an Infinity or Acura. I guess the best thing you could do is keep your comments to yourself and keep your questions short.

Sure is too bad that Kodak dropped the ball and then quit with the cameras.....
I have had several of their P&S as well as a couple bridge cameras. Still have a Kodak z980, but don't use it much since getting my Canon SX40 & now the SX50. Still am amazed at the quality of that awesome glass that Kodak used! And the features were more advanced than any similar camera in the same price range.

Kodak dropped the ball when the board of directors hired a sales and marketing CEO that had no interest in funding research and development.
A lot of companies failed because they wanted quick money instead of long term survival.

Now that right there is just wrong. Tell me my Nikon is junk ok but don't be bashing the Deere. After all nothing runs like a Deere.

Cameras are like politicians.
When you push their button you never know what you are going to get.
