Keep shooting those old abandond places. Print out 8x10s and keep them in a file. the historical society will love to have them for their arcives. I do that for ours. I also put them on disks so they can pop them in the big screen. Around here its the barns that we are loosing.

About ten years ago at one of our funtions we asked anyone in our twp if they had any old photos of the old schools or places of busness Farms or homes to bring them in and we scaned them and now have them in our arcives. Two guys just wrote a book about the history of our twp and most all the photos in their book came from photos in our arcives. They sold us 100 books at cost so we can make $5. on every one we sell. In just a few months we almost have recovered our cost. the rest will go into our opperatoin fund. Ive been on the board for the last 12 years. Now vice pres. So again keep shooting every thing around. Some day it may be of intrest to someone.

Thank you SM!! I do indeed, there is just something there that reaches out to me, I think about the people who lived there, or worked hard and keep their animals in those barns etc. I visualize all that with every shot, I just cannot pass one by, unless it is a new one

Hi Hal, good to see you again. I think that was a great idea, and a historical document to boot. Hope you keep it up. Sad to see things like that just tossed away

LOL, lots of folks wish that were the case, wonder what percentage of people actually own their home, no mortgage, no liens, really own them

Love your old barns, buildings, houses, etc. like the one shown in this fascinating photo.

I don't know a lot about construction, but this one may have had foundation "issues" that made it unsafe. The roof looks like one of the newer metal types, so maybe the folks that lived there didn't give up until more recently when things really started to "settle." What a shame!

Thank you very much !! These houses are in an area that several years ago were the poverty belt in the US, and if repossessed by the banks, then the banks did not have the funding to keep them up so just wrote them off and let them die.

Hey...that's my vacation home (just kidding). As my wife and I travel, I often take pictures of old relics. I kind of feel like maybe it's a way of preserving what once was.
Tad...alway love your photos.

Something so sad about a house that's not a home anymore.
