  Sharp, colorful, great shot.
Nice shot. We have a lot of the Pileated Woodpeckers in South East Ohio. They sound like a machine gun when they peck on an old hollowed tree. They also have a very characteristic call.
You really did nail this pretty lady. Very sharp, with a nice DOF
You should see them in action. They bring their head way back and slam the tree. Bark goes flying. They bore large holes and then come back later to gather the insects that have accumulated. Quite a sight and racket.
Great shot. These wood peckers make alot of noise when they start pecking you watch the wood fly.
Great shot of a pileated woodpecker, fairly common throughout the Southeast. Has adapted to human habitat. Find an ivory billed one and you'll be famous. It's supposed to be extinct but people (Arkansas and other places) continue to claim they've spotted one. No proof yet by ornithologists. Chuck

Thanks, Gregory. Now at least I can let my grandkids know his real name.
It is said that Walt Disney modeled Woody Woodpecker after the Pileated woodpecker.
