I will be going on an African safari and need some help. I have a D7000 and a Nikkor 28-300 lens, what other lens would I need if any? Hoping some of you guys have gone and have recommendations! Thank you all.

What about a 1.4 teleconverter?

I agree but you would lose AF, the viewfinder image would be darker

My personal choice would be to rent a lens, go for the Sigma 55-500 or 150-500, take plenty of decent cards I have two D7000s and the 28-300 Nikkor, on safari, you really shouldn't need a "wide" you are shooting animals, get extra batteries and solar battery charger.
Personally I have always used Meike battery grips on my D7000s
Also you should have no lighting problams so to save weight a monopod rather than tripod

GET good camera insurance, you need not pay more than about $100 a year
I would suggest the Nikkor 10-24mm wide angle lens. Will you be on the savanah where there will be a lot of opportunities for wide shots? If so, I'd suggest a second camera for the wide angle lens. You don't want to be constantly changing lenses. Also, if you're in a situation where you're shooting wildlife, you may want the 28-300mm on one camera and a longer lens on another. Believe me, it's a pain continually changing out lenses. It might be a good excuse to buy a D800 or D7100. After all, what better time to invest in your equipment (p.s. you'd be more than happy with the D800 if it's in budget). If you do get a second camera, you may want to look at the Op-Tech dual camera strap.
P.S. Make sure you insure everything with a rider to your homeowners insurance.
