When I first read your post I thought you were asking about "dark site" which is a place free of nighttime light pollution. I'm not sure what is meant by "dark side".

It means that if you have been shooting Nikon and then buy a new Canon, you may have "moved to the Dark side". And vice Versa.
If you have been a PC user, and switch to Mac, you have gone over to the Dark Side. And vice Versa.
Film to digital? Dark Side.
MacDonalds to Burger King ...... Chevy to Ford (or worse still, Toyota) .....
Well, you get the picture.

Depends Shooter. If you got there via ingesting 3 lbs. of brussel sprouts, then most likely, yes. However if you became full by eating a huge slice of triple chocolate decadence cake, then you have more likely moved into the realm of Total Enlightenment and Nirvana. Sometimes the method defines the destination.

Not really. I never left film and still prefer it unless I am in a hurry.
Might be a leap for those that started with digital.

I think that's the back side...
Don't want to go there.
From the definitions I've been seeing, and judging from them all, I have been to the "dark side" and back, MANY, MANY times.

Most of us will never know the real dark side. It's on the moon. Everything else is just placebo.

The dark side can be a good thing in art, music, photography, writing, poetry. Just keep it where it belongs.
