Two words: Avoid sinkholes.

LOL! Might be some great shots if they can pull you and the camera out of the sink hole. Be a trooper and keep shooting no matter what.

Always.

Are you permitted to snorkel or dive there? 8-)

I know you can snorkel so I assume you can dive also....
Be aware the water is cold.....well for me it is..I think it is around 70 degrees year round

Okay. That sounds interesting. Seventy degrees is no problem for me, that's a June day in the ocean up here. :)

Hi Folks,

I intend to road trip thru Northern Florida from Jacksonville west to Pensacola and then loop back.

I would appreciate anyone letting me know interesting places to visit or photograph. My interests are many and varied and I like to photograph all subjects. Also, any good fishing spots (fresh or salt) you could tell me about or unusual places to stay would be great.

The trip will most likely be in April and most of the time will be spent in the Panhandle. Thanks in advance.

I was stationed at Pensacola in the late 1950's there was two old brick forts on the air station one over looked the bay the other was farther inland, we were all over the forts inside and out even though going inside was a no-no. They may still be there a good place for pictures.

Hi Bmac, the Wakulla River (which flows just south of Tallahassee into the Gulf) has manatees during winter and they may still be in the waters in April. You can rent canoes and get closeup photos of these mammoth and gentle animals. Enjoy your Big Bend experience - it really is the old Florida that is fast fading away.

Thanks Chuck. I have explored much of Florida and lived in South Florida in the early seventies as a student (and worker), but have never been to the Panhandle. About time I took a look. :D

In my humble opinion that is the very best time to visit - Florida or the Cancun area ( Yucatan Peninsula) of MX. Take your time and lots of photos.

Well I'm single again and have access to two very nice condos when they're not rented. One on the beach and one on the bay. I love lovebug season.
