Thank you for all the input! I ordered two Wasabi batteries with a charger on Amazon. I got an extra $10 off for opening an account and free shipping. If they are not good, I am not out much. Hopefully they will be good!

If its like the Visa acc't I have with Amazon, you get 5% cash back on Amazon purchases.

I recomend buying 1 Canon battery. The charge lasts an incredibly long time and unless you're shooting 24 hours a day you'll never need third as a backup.

I've used after market batteries for years and ever had a problem. I usually the Canon battery in the camera and use the aftermarket as a spare when needed.

I bought a aftermarket battery for my Cannon T3i from a local battery store. Everything good if not better. Both batteries are over a year old. Maybe i just got lucky.

I've been using after market since my Canon 10D and have never had a problem with life span on any of the batteries. The only thing I would suggest is if you buy them on ebay make sure you buy them from a US company, the other is make sure it says it can be charged with the original manufacturers charger. Some of the newer Canon batteries have something called decoded batteries which will not charge properly in the Canon charger and your camera can't read the battery even though it is full

This may not apply to you, but depending on your shooting situation (or taking indoor video) you could consider an AC adapter. I bought one for $20.

I use brand x batteries as a backup only - my experience is that they don't stay charged as long but otherwise are reliable.

My after market batteries from my 10D still work great and I used the camera for 50k plus pictures. My husband now has the camera since I upgrade a few times

Since you all helped me make the decision of which camera I wanted, can you give me some insight on batteries? The package I got only included one battery. I would like at least two or three more. I have been looking and there are quite a few that are aftermarket besides the original Canon ones. Do any of you use the generic ones? The price difference is huge, but I am concerned about quality. Are there any of the less expensive brands that are good quality? I love the new camera!! The pictures are beautiful...what little I have done so far...I just got it yesterday!

I also shoot a Canon dslr camera. I tried 3rd party batteries... I won't do that again. Within just a few weeks the generic would no longer fit in the camera slot because they had swollen.

My suggestion, buy only Canon batteries. Yes they're expensive but worth every nickle.

I have the same camera. I would not think of buying other than a Canon battery for it. They are a tad expensive, but they last a loooonnnnng time.

Consider a battery grip for your canon. I like the extra size grip as well the extra weight which helps to steady the camera. I was pleasantly suprised to find that you can use 1 or 2 batteries in the grip and as well it comes with a holder that will accept regular AA batteries as a backup. With two fully charged batteries in the grip have never had to use the backup.

Try Overstock.com. I purchased two batteries and charger for my T3 and have had no problems with them in about a years worth of use. I have them in a camera grip which allows me to use both batteries for a lot of shots.
