I took these today while out and about.

I think Hallmark would love #1. Makes a beautiful Christmas card. Can you tell us more about that photo Judy? Thanks.

I took this from the car window with a Nikon D3000 1/250, f/8.0,50mm, ISO100. I can't give you a blow by blow on what I did in pse because I flattened the image part way through, but basically I dodged the barn to bring out the detail, cloned out the pole, used a white color fill to whiten up the snow.
I probably dodged some of the shadows in the trees to get more detail. I know I ran it through levels. I made it into a B&W by decreasing saturation twice, flattening between them. I should have written it down as I went along, but I was playing with it so much and deleting layers as fast as I was making them.
Now if that isn't what you were asking.
I have driven by this barn my whole life and it has been photographed by many locals and featured on many postcards. The brush has grown up so much that today it is hard to see from the road. This is about the only angle to shoot without out trespassing. I have added the original so you can see what I started with.

Thanks so much for the details. Your post process was flawless in my opinion. You should post your original and edit the next time someone starts a thread that is against editing. When done right and not overdone, the result speaks for itself.

First off as a former michiganian let me thank you for posting a reminder why it says vero beach FLORIDA on my adress. We had a rough winter down here last year, the temperature dropped to a bone chilling 69 degrees with a topical wind chill factor of "relax man and listen to more Jimmy Buffet" why it got so cold I almost had to change from a short sleeve t shirt to a long sleeve one. I swear my tropical smoothie was going to freeze up. It was rough I tell you  8-)   I can tell you feel my pain. I really liked your 1st image, it hhas a "currier and ives" kinda feel to it. black and white was a good choice for that scene.

Thank you, I guess you did have a rough winter last year. Hope it is milder for you this winter. 8-) and you don't have to break out the long sleeves.
I am just praying for an early spring, and any time the first snow is on the last day of November it is a good year. And we can listen to Jimmy Buffet while sitting by the fire, and dream of warm weather. (though we have an outdoor wood burner so maybe not)
I always say that a tough winter just makes you appreciate spring more.
 on your avatar.

thanks, I do miss a White Christmas though. Or the day after an ice storm when the sky is sunny and blue and the trees glisten from being covered in ice. Almost enough to make me come home, then I think about the gray ash they put down on the roads instead of salt and say nah. I won't shop where they don't say CHRISTmas. I spell it that way as a none to subtle reminder of the reason for the season.

I have a magnetic sign that looks just like your avatar yard sign that I put on my car this time of year... Which reminds me, I need to do that.
