is it spring? i have buds on my orange tree so i hope so.its a small tree about 5? years old.last year i got 127 oranges mmmmmmm

Not spring here. 32F yesterday morning.
Very nice eye of the fly.
Where was your diffused flash? I posted one a week ago, and it had a "nice" rectangular shape from my diffuser. You've avoided that.

my flash was on the left at the same height as the lens.

I don't want to hijack. May I re-post my fly eye for your critique? I'm getting a pretty clear white rectangular shape. My diffusion is to the left and also on horizontal axis with lens.

sure! post it.my flies were on a fence so i was usually shooting 90-degree angle

i think my pics have a hint of that glare,i had my flash low and 56mm tubes + f25

So maybe the color of the eyes has something to do with it?

I usually have my SB-400 speedlight controlled by the camera: Manual @ 1/16 output.

Lens is Nikkor 105G at MFD, with 36mm of extension tube. 1/200-sec @ f/22, then cropped in iPhoto.

Yeah, but do you ever feed them to the spiders-- for some National Geo "action shots"?
I'm thinking of getting a tarantula as a pet... well actually as a "model". ;-)
