Condolences Marilyn, I also lost a cat to diabetes complications. I know how you are feeling. I enjoyed him all the time I had him.

I am sorry- i know you had high hopes as i had. I prayed i could have him much longer once we had it under control. It just did not work out that way.
God Bless you.

Today, is one of the hardest days of my life.
My beloved pet of 16 years had to be put to rest.
I think with my putting this to words, it will make me heal faster if that is possible.
Just a short history of how this came about.

I received this 2 week old kitten when his feral mom was killed by a car. Wiz was given to me on Mothers day as my cat had been killed by a coyote.

I took over the mom chores and raised him. All was well up until last year approx April when he was diagnosed with diabetes. After 2 months of insulin - Wizz went into remission.

All went well for a while, and then a month ago, it hit again. This time we weren't so lucky. Adjustments to the medication were not doing the trick. Then last week i rushed him back up and we found the medication at that time was to much and he was close to going into shock.

so we lowered the dosage and several days went past which brings us up to this morning.
He had problems with eating and drinking so i rushed him back to the vets. The vet ran another blood sugar test and Wiz was not leveling out and also bleeding from his mouth.

It was there and then i asked the vet to please end his suffering and let him cross rainbow Bridge where he would be pain free once again and regain his strength.

Please love your pets for all they are worth- no price can be set on their short and loving lives. They give us so much and ask for so little in return.
This little man gave his all to please me.

Marilyn, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. It's difficult to try and type this through the tears. I know how you're feeling as I have been through it a few times with different pet dogs a good few years ago. Memories will never fade, it will get a bit easier as time passes. Thinking of you!!!!

I thought this poem I found might help:-

Half a Day Left
Just half a day left
For this rag-tag cat
Just half a day left
In a gutter at that

But God whispered softly
From one heart to another
Until removed from the gutter
By someone called Mother

She took me to her own loving home
Warm cloths to gently clean my face
Then a special warm bed to snuggle
Where I was tended with grace

Food and milk was offered
Though too sick to take much
The best nourishment she gave
Were soft words comfort and touch

Just half a day left
For this lovely tortoiseshell cat
Who now is in Heaven
Content in God’s lap

"All this is possible" the cat told God
"For in that gutter my life was waning
Yet now in Heaven healthy and new
Because my Mother blessed me with naming"

"Which allowed me to stand before you and say,
A name is the pass to Heaven Dear Lord"
"Someone cared enough to love me, so
My name is Wiz, please bless the woman below."

There isn't another thing in our live's that will be harder than losing a pet. I've lost many family members and very close friends thru my lifetime, but losing a pet is the hardest.. God Bless you, Marilyn. Thank you for sharing!!!!!!!!!my prayers for you..

preciousmetalairracing, Thank you.
Loosing a pet is indeed a very hard thing to have happen.
They depend on us so much and can't tell us a thing on how they are feeling or where they are hurting.
And May God bless you as well.
:)
