Today, is one of the hardest days of my life.
My beloved pet of 16 years had to be put to rest.
I think with my putting this to words, it will make me heal faster if that is possible.
Just a short history of how this came about.

I received this 2 week old kitten when his feral mom was killed by a car. Wiz was given to me on Mothers day as my cat had been killed by a coyote.

I took over the mom chores and raised him. All was well up until last year approx April when he was diagnosed with diabetes. After 2 months of insulin - Wizz went into remission.

All went well for a while, and then a month ago, it hit again. This time we weren't so lucky. Adjustments to the medication were not doing the trick. Then last week i rushed him back up and we found the medication at that time was to much and he was close to going into shock.

so we lowered the dosage and several days went past which brings us up to this morning.
He had problems with eating and drinking so i rushed him back to the vets. The vet ran another blood sugar test and Wiz was not leveling out and also bleeding from his mouth.

It was there and then i asked the vet to please end his suffering and let him cross rainbow Bridge where he would be pain free once again and regain his strength.

Please love your pets for all they are worth- no price can be set on their short and loving lives. They give us so much and ask for so little in return.
This little man gave his all to please me.

I am so sorry Marilyn. You did the right thing for him from his very beginning...taking him in, nursing him, giving him a home where animals are loved and now you helped him out of his suffering. they expect so little. You have given him much.

My heart breaks for you in your loss.
I'm so sorry.

But I applaud you for making the decision that was best for Wiz. Not many can be courageous enough to do that.

You have my sympathy... and appreciation for sharing a photo of your dear one, too.

Thank you,Tilde..
it was not easy, but he put up such a fight and i think it was all for me.. Not himself but for me.
And that's what makes it so hard to accept.

Marilyn - your feelings are understood. My little Bridgett is adopted and I never knew how much love a cat could give until I got her. She saved me in a way. It breaks my heart that you lost your friend. God Bless.

I will never forget Wizz. Hes brought joy to my whole family and we are all in tears.
Everyone at the Vets office loved him and he will be missed like your beloved Snowball.

Thank you, Barb.
They give so much and ask for so little in return.
Wizz never had a mean bone in his body- even when one of the feral cats came to him. He was accepting of them all.

I have no doubt you're right about that.

So maybe think of it this way?
He was not just your companion or pet... he was your guide in life, too.
Every time you are faced with a difficult situation, remember what Wizz *taught* you and you'll come through it just fine and honor his memory at the same time.

*empathetic hugs*
