What kind of lantern is this?

They were refered to as Coal Oil Lanterns and were used for
lighting. Back then instead of filpping a switch one would flip a match.
Funny that you mentioned a match. I was at an estate sale Saturday and I saw several books of matches. I haven't seen them in a long time.

Being a" American Pickers" fan I was pulling for ya Tom,but for fifty cents(to me) you got your moneys worth in entertainment tonight...LOL...Tim..And through all this I forgot to say great shot!!

Being a" American Pickers" fan I was pulling for ya Tom,but for fifty cents(to me) you got your moneys worth in entertainment tonight...LOL...Tim..And through all this I forgot to say great shot!!
Personally, I think they over pay a lot on that show. By the way, what do you mean by "Great shot!"? It is just a photo of a stupid lantern. Lol.

Tell you what. Next time that I sneeze and I phlegm all over my monitor, I'll take a photograph of it and let you tell me how great of a shot it was . Then I will sit back and read all of the other responses. Lol.

I know you have seen this thread.:) That is not a bad looking lantern. Needs some work, but it would still be cool hanging out on your top deck.:) And to stop the smell you use lamp oil. I have 5 of these hanging on poles around the camp fire circle in the back yard. Have them filled with citronella for the bugs.:)

Its a Walmart every day kero lantern.Railroad lanterns were quality stuff,most made by Adlake,go for big bucks now,were made with different color class depending on the intended use.
