DOF is a matter of preference. Her face is adorable...I mean sharp... and adorable. That is the focus of the photo. I wouldn't worry about the scarf, it isn't the subject is it? I like it, lighting is good, and nice composition. Keep shooting.

Your lil' Angel looks like my best friend Max. I rescued him from the gas chamber (Pound) 3 or 4 months ago. They gave him a bad rap and said he was a bad dog. Turns out he was just unhappy, he has been a perfect gentlemen since i brought him home.

I like it! I disagree..I like the small dof. Her eyes are bright and in focus so I am drawn to them. Her scarf blends into the background which I like. Nice!

I agree! I think that was the point..that you had us focus on her eyes and all of the rest blended into the background. If the scarf and background were not muted with the shallow dof then it would be to busy. It is really a great shot!
