sunrise this morning (IS off on tripod)

Beautiful Picture - what is the difference with the IS off vs on? I don't use a tripod vary often, so I did not realize that it was a good idea to turn it off.

The IS stabilizes the image while being held with some movement. On a tripod the IS is still trying to stabilize movement when there is none. Causing a slightly blurred image. It can be in the body or the lens. It's more evident with telephoto lens , take a shot with it on , then the same shot with it off.

Thank you for this info. I will have to check this out. This is something I did not know.
