can't believe the difference with the IS "off" while on a tripod....(Duh).....then i usually forget to turn it back on.....Oly epl-1 with vivitar 1.9 nifty 50 (x2 crop factor)
this is the reason it should be switched on the side of the camera. like a focus switch.

Great pic, i have a tamron 70-300mm and it states the IS should be off when using a tripod.

yes it's common practice, but takes awhile to sink in on some of us....
Beautiful image, it is easy to forget to turn IS back on, i do it all the time, maybe a Micro Chip inside the Camera Trypod receptical which would detect IS when the Tripod is fitted to the Camera and turn it off, and back on when Tripod is detached.

Great shot Greg. I NEVER forget to turn my IS on, because I always forget to turn it OFF. Zat make you feel better?
