I would suggest that #3 has emotion and a real story to tell. The first two are ordinary and normal, almost static.

#2. Three objects make for good composition. Dog has too many distractions and no detail such as an eye that shows. The first one has the disturbing trees on the left. Perhaps the horizon line should be level on #2. Can you straighten it? Maybe that is the terrain that slopes, but #1 appears level.
I think the lighting on the second picture is the best.
Voting number two as well. Strong, simple, and visually the most appealing.
They are all good. I am a dog lover. Can't choose.
For a single entry into this contest, I would go with the dog; however, I would crop it just a touch to eliminate the larger out of focus leaves at the bottom. Show the grass, and after a crop of the out of focus leaves at the bottom, shave equal small amounts off of the left and right to maintain your aspect ratio and composition.
Number 3 of the dog has emotion, it makes a connection (think judges and/or people's choice), the "pathos" of number 3 makes it a better choice for a contest. The only thing left would be to come up with the perfect title that really reaches out and engages the viewer.
While your trees are nice, it takes more than "nice" to win a photography contest. . .your image needs to "speak" to the judges and other viewers.

#3, it tells a whole story in the one image, you have it all there. Good luck, hope you get accepted, and land at the top. Cheers from Jean.
of the choice between tree photos, i like 1
on the choice out of all three; the dog shot has the most interest for me...
tuff call but i'm a dog lover so #3 for me.Bill
No.1 is a little too dark.
No.2 is better
No.3 is charming - the dog looks ready to play. I would however, crop just a bit of the out-of-focus grass out of the foreground. To me this would be a winner.
#2 unless cropping out the foreground of the dog pic makes it less busy . . .

I hope I have done everything correctly to get this topic posted. If I have, there should be three photos, one of my dog and two of three trees in a field. I want to enter one of them into a photography competition and would like your opinion as to which one I should enter. Thank you.
3 for sure. 1 & 2 are nice but not special (in my humble opinion)
