I remember the Detroit of the 50's, 60's. I do miss that Detroit. Anybody else?

I do remember, though, that there was a time in the early 70's, that Detroit Police were being killed at a higher rate than soldiers in Vietnam.

I agree Steve. I grew up in Detroit and there was no place like it in the fifties. My hovering mother let us take the bus downtown by ourselves, without a worry and no cell phones to keep in touch.
By the seventies I lived in the suburbs.
I still go downtown(NOT on a bus) for sports and theater. Personally I would like to see Detroit make a comeback.

Hudson's was big, and of course going to see the Tiger's. Tiger Stadium was great. I saw Yogi once and he said it was a great hitters park. One of my great highlights was going with an 8th grade class group to see My Fair Lady in 1961 at the Fisher. We had floor seats on the right and it was great.

Yes, Hudsons and Tiger Stadium are no more. The new Comerica Park is right downtown across from the Fox Theater. I t is a beautiful stadium.

Sorry, Sarge. Didn't mean to sidetrack your topic, it still is a funny story.

Did you leave a Quran, also?

Why the Quran comment? Does Detroit have a significant Muslim population? I worked and helped open the new Borders bookstore in Dearborn, so I know the area well. A few great restaurants. I can't remember selling any Qurans. No Bibles either, for that matter.

The first Lebanese to settle in the Detroit area were actually Christian.

Apparently you haven't been back to Dearborn lately. I got Danilo's comment.

Where do you park your car? GPS coordinates will do.

Maybe we should rename it Michiganistan?

One of my Italian aunts still lives in Dearborn. She says that her Muslim neighbors are nice. So, my comments are just mean to recognize the change in the area and should not be taken as derogatory.

Heck Sarge, you should have followed the vehicle home, waited 'til dark, jacked the rig up, put it on blocks and stole the tires. Stereo also. Hmmm......

I was driving around here in Ft. Myers , Florida the other day and I saw a bumper sticker on a parked car that read,

"I miss Detroit."

So, I broke the window, stole the radio, shot out two of the tires and left a note that read,

"I hope this helps!"

Hay sarge, Dont belive those signs. It got me in trouble. I was in the Post Office the other day and seen a sign that read WET FLOOR so I did. Not welcome there any more.

Since this is a photography forum a picture should make a point.
