I was driving around here in Ft. Myers , Florida the other day and I saw a bumper sticker on a parked car that read,

"I miss Detroit."

So, I broke the window, stole the radio, shot out two of the tires and left a note that read,

"I hope this helps!"

You're a good person. Way to go. Helping those that are down.

I remember the Detroit of the 50's, 60's. I do miss that Detroit. Anybody else?

I do remember, though, that there was a time in the early 70's, that Detroit Police were being killed at a higher rate than soldiers in Vietnam.

I agree Steve. I grew up in Detroit and there was no place like it in the fifties. My hovering mother let us take the bus downtown by ourselves, without a worry and no cell phones to keep in touch.
By the seventies I lived in the suburbs.
I still go downtown(NOT on a bus) for sports and theater. Personally I would like to see Detroit make a comeback.

Hudson's was big, and of course going to see the Tiger's. Tiger Stadium was great. I saw Yogi once and he said it was a great hitters park. One of my great highlights was going with an 8th grade class group to see My Fair Lady in 1961 at the Fisher. We had floor seats on the right and it was great. I was downtown once with my Dad during the winter along the river. The ice was breaking up and was flowing in huge chunks. It was quite a sight.
