If money was no object and you could buy me a nice Camera-what would it be? Why? I just sold my 5D Mark II. Love the Full Frame but will not go back to Canon.
Here is one shot with the 5DMark II 300mm2.8 with a 2X converter on it handheld
Hand held 2am in the morning for a several second exposure it looks sharp to me.
Get a tripod!!

For traitors I would buy a really nice and very rare camera that no one makes parts or film for

A $39.95 Lomo for you and an Escalade for me.
I think you should try a Speed-O-Graphic. It only shoots film, and you get to control everything. Lots of newspaper photographers used one in the first half of the 20th Century. They are made of wood and you would have to cock the shutter yourself. Or, you could buy a Nikon. Maybe with everything operating backwards you'll feel better.
After all this advice, I sure hope the OP lets us know what she ends up getting! Would love to see posts with her new purchase.
I assume you are not a professional photographer, but like me, you just want to take nice pix. So--since I don't know your training or skills background--I would send you an Olympus SP 800 UZ or their newer model (don't know the model number).
30 X zoom, point and shoot, but good glass and plethora of programs and features. Cost $300-ISH OR LESS. alyn
