pounder35...There's a slight difference of opinion on folks altering someone's picture when they've asked for help. I think a picture is worth a thousand words, show me how it can be better rather than tell me I should have done this or that. However, if I haven't indicated that something I post is up for grabs, stated or implied, it violates my copyright.

The rule makes it very clear what the guidelines are and overall, it's a good thing.

Been bit before. To quote the Monty Python movie when the knight lossed his second arm. "Just a flesh wound!" All in fun.

Good idea. It would also be just as easy to include a sentence asking people NOT to make changes without permission.

Such an easy solution to such a hard problem.

Ok, just came back... and the topic is??? The same as before: courtesy to respect someone's thread...

Not that of a big bad wolf who goes on date with his wife of nearly 29 years...

Right?

Another one was on working animals, idea stolen from here when a UHH member posted the pic of a dog he hosted before training, I think.

I am VERY active...
I even decided to post my blog to place some things under perspective  (but no all, there are limits!)

err.... Why would I want to take a picture of my wife that I see every day, hovering over with MY pastry rolling pin?

I updated the Pictures section's rules, and added this clause:

Quote:
- Please do not edit and re-upload other people's pictures without their explicit permission. In other words, you may not open someone's topic, download an image, edit it (that includes adjusting settings, cropping, adding/removing visual elements, etc.), re-post it, and say "here is a version of your photo that I like better" unless they specifically ask for it.

This goes into effect immediately.
If you mess with other people's photos without them asking, you'll get banned.

Twice now I have been on a thread and someone grabbed the author's picture and changed it. One author asked if that was appropriate and I stepped in and told them about the new rule, pointed them to the forum by the Admin. The perpetrator came back politely and appologized to the author. All is well. I have seen one individual do this blatantly and the forum stops immediately. Everyone leaves. No comments. Maybe she'll get it but probably not.
