I think his post is helpful. Whether whose fault it is it does mean that I have to be careful when dealing with PayBoo.

well I got payboo so I wouldnt have to pay any sales taxes.
The lenses arrived, I am fortunate I have the money to pay off the card which I did the very next day.
I saved around $180 . Thats quite a bit of money. That I put towards the purchase of a nifty 50 .If you dont have the money to pay these cards off as the bill comes in, its gonna cost you a LOT, as you found out.

That does not sound like dragging BnH through the mud to me. I viewed Jim’s post as just asking “what is up” because he didn’t understand what happened. He thought perhaps someone here could explain it and he wouldn’t have to call them. Indeed that is what happened.

So I’m wondering why all the emotion directed at Jim?

You kind of missed the last sentence of the paragraph... "I am not done with BnH by any means. Since i don't have $6,000 sitting around to pay this off tomorow I guess I have no other option except to withdraw money from my pension account to pay off this balance and say good bye to Payboo."

OTH, I agree that the replies seem a little overly hostile toward somebody who simply made a mistake. He now knows he can call the bank or B&H and throw himself on the mercy of the court. Hopefully, case closed, but he can't call B&H till the end of Passover.

He's vindicated just by the number of others who don't seem to understand how it works either. Choose free financing option *or* get the discount equal to the state sales tax, but *not* both. One or the other, but not both.

I stopped using credit cards except one. I use the Costco Citibank card because I get money back every year from all purchases made.

Also, we keep a zero balance on the card. When we buy we go online and immediately pay the balance. No interest accrued. Cash is king when you use the Costco Card.

We do the same, except I use the Amazon Prime card for Amazon purchases and the Costco card for everything else. Last year we got over $1400 back and we also pay the balance each month (haven't paid a dime in credit card interest in maybe 20 or 25 years).

Consider yourself lucky. The B&H website states that you have two options. You can take the tax or take up to 12 months credit.

ALL of their camera's can be bought 6 or 12 months no interest, no taxes, I was not lucky, it's the way they do business for EVERYONE.

I think it's either 6/12 months no interest or no tax. Not both. That's what I think. I am unable to verify if the 6/12 months special financing is no interest. Even when I tried to apply I still don't have a full disclosure so I cancel out the application.

You are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO wrong. Please go to the site, look up any camera, I just bought a Nikon Z9 and got 12 months no interest, NO SALES TAX.
Why do you persist on stating false information when it's obvious you are WRONG.
You could influence others away from using the Payboo card to purchase expensive equipment. Why would you do that?

LOL, I was just going to upload the same screenprint, even though I did it a few pages ago, along with providing the link: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/credit-cards

Do you get the sense that "some" people aren't reading all comments in this thread?

The one thing is that the special financing deal I am not sure what it is. I can't get to where they post their policy without actually open an account.

You should call customer service, and in case you did not know, this is how the Payboo card works, if you pay with with the payboo card, you do not have to pay sales tax.
When ever I make a purchase like yours, I call them to make sure they know that I am going to pay over 6 months or a year, if you do that, YOU HAVE TO PAY THE SALES TAX on your purchase but are charged no interest if you pay it off within the specified time frame. So if the sales tax is .05 and you buy 6000.00, you'll have to pay about 300 in sales tax on that purchase.
If they had you pay interest, there is probably a mix up at there end. I WOULD CALL THEM INSTEAD OF COMPLAINING HERE.
Why not put your big boy pants on and call them, I am sure BnH will fix it, REALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Folks like you that come here FIRST to complain instead of handling it with customer service show everyone here what you really are, a whiner.

Once again, someone has a simple question and you have to give him a hard time and belittle him. You just make yourself look like a fool. If you don't think he went the proper route, don't answer. I think bullying someone on this forum has no place.

They have a bunch of FAQ's, but there's also a footnote for "special" ... which isn't very helpful

"Minimum payments are required for each Credit Plan. Valid for single transaction only. If the single transaction has multiple shipments, each shipment may result in a separate Credit Plan, subject to a separate minimum purchase requirement and minimum interest charge. Each transaction placed on a promotional Credit Plan(s) will not earn Instant Savings."

First of all I have lost count of how much money I have happily spent at BnH. Every single experience I have had at BnH has been positive. Absolutely no complaints from me what so ever. So what's going on now?

I opened a Payboo account. With this account you can buy what you want, and depending on how much you spend you get so many months of interest free payments.

I bought $6200.00 worth of new gear expecting several months to pay it off so I wouldn't by paying any interest.

I received my first invoice today from Payboo and they charged me $134.00 in interest.

I am not done with BnH by any means. Since i don't have $6,000 sitting around to pay this off tomorow I guess I have no other option except to withdraw money from my pension account to pay off this balance and say good bye to Payboo.

So what's up BnH?

Wow they only charged you 26% instead of 29%
