Is that on the second story of the building or around to the back? There doesn't seem to be any window casing so I'm wondering if it might not be a overly large opening for a pigeon coop, or, if on the first floor, maybe there was a ramp up for chickens to use. It would explain the small roof to keep the rain out and to provide shade for the opening.

This scene is on the ground floor, on the left side of the home as viewed from the full shot I posted. There was a small window for that opening that could swing open. The faming was there but no glass.

Hi, Boris.

I gather you like stuff like this as much as I do. Good hunting.

I often wonder why people do certain things (for at least 30 secs.). this could have been one of those things.

Thanks, Frank.

I quit trying to fathom why folks do certain things. It can frustrate you if you let it.

This is the side of the home not seen in the other picture. The illusions continue. Draw a straight line from top to bottom that bisects that window at the bottom left ....that a completely flat surface. Draw another straight line that runs left to right and and that bisects that window at the top right of the picture. That's a flat, continuous surface the whole way.

I have idea why the overhang is there. Apparently the wood planking on the overhang didn't provide for relief from the rain, or light, and he settled on another solution. There is a small window under the overhang. There's a very small room that I could see, with only a commode in evidence.

Hmmm. At first I said this place was evidently built by a Rube Goldberg getting into the siding business. But now I think that's wrong. Now I'm leaning to a dwelling built by a committee!

Remember that the elderly lady at the old store told me the owner was an eccentric person. One old man suffering that affliction can outdo a hoard of committees. Why? Because he has no conflicting demands to pander to.

That's certainly a consideration, John. Additionally, with a swinging window, he can maximize air flow....no need to gas anyone else that might be in the house.

See you.
