This result came from trying different ways to focus through a chainlink fence, and to experiment with a more abstract pov.
Feedback welcomed!
This one like your form/function shot is also well titled!
The focus on the fence with the brightly lit pool structures leaves my eyes wondering where to go.

Thanks very much for commenting, Bruce.
I considered including a warning in my title, given the reactions to my
Vertigo topic, but decided to live dangerously
Am grateful for your time!
An interesting result, Linda.
Love it Linda. Obviously the focus is on the fence but just like in real life, my brain immediately ignored it and tried to focus on what was behind it.

I'm relieved you didn't experience vertigo with this one, Jack 🥰 I'm also delighted you enjoyed the result.
Most of the effect was accomplished in my version of ACR. See attached of those sliders and the original pic. I reduced clarity extensively. Also, the angle of sunlight on the fence had a lot to do with everything that followed
Linda, I always admire how you can look at something that most would probably pass daily without notice but you say, "I wonder what if?". You have an amazing ability to "see something", and ponder and are never taken aback by negative responses. Anyone who looked at this had to stop for longer than a 5 second glance and that is a positive response. Keep creating, keep questioning.
My other thought is, there are more pictures in the picture here. What if you cropped to just the bottom of the life guard's chair (kept the legs and their diagonal lines) and cropped out the right and left sides, keeping the posts as a border? An abstract that one might not realize that its at the pool?
Just wondering.
That image plays tricks with my mind's eye - first I see the fence pattern then I see the things behind, then I see the fence ……. Neat effect you’ve achieved there.

Carla, it's always a wonderful day when you come to visit!
I tried a slightly different crop than you suggested (and used the free transform tool). See below. Will need to play with this some more, but I do think you're onto something. Many thanks for your time and interest!

Thank you so much, Stan. That's a gratifying reaction!
I am enjoying your cropped image, Linda. I like how it keeps my eyes roaming around it, not knowing what is the object concealed by the fence. I like how the light is reflected off of the pattern of the fence. I think I would even like to pretend I didn't know what either of these objects were, just stare at them! 8-)

Since I was trying to go to the abstract realm, you make an excellent argument for keeping the cropped version and tossing out the first pic
Thanks again, Carla!

Personally I am going with your original image. There is room to roam through the shot. This cropped version is in your face. And there may be a mild case of vertigo for me.
