This car was on the starting line at the 1957 Le Mans Race. Another D Type won the race. this car finished third. It is powered by a 6 cylinder in-line engine with double overhead cams, 3 dual-throat Weber carbs, and produced 270 HP at 6,000 RPM. An identically powered D Type topped out at 185 MPH when run at the Bonneville salt flats.

I love Jaguars, always have. This one looks fast for some reason. I was born in 1951 what a joy. Keep posting waiting for more!! Thanks BE SAFE!!

Great looking car, Tom. I like the lines on this car much more than Jaguar's contemporary XK140 series that most of us think of when think of a 55 Jaguar. I've never seen a D type because I am totally unfamiliar with most race-car only cars of that day. Thanks again for sharing.

Hey, Reuss.

I grew up in a " car focused " family. Both of my parents were gear heads. My mom even took her '57 Chevy to the drag races on 4 occasions...she won twice and lost twice. Then she quit...said she didn't want to hurt her " baby ". When she got a '59 Impala, she gifted me her '57. My oldest brother had a '52 MG TD, which I learned to drive on. I never had a chance. I was doomed to a car culture from the get-go.

Hi, Tom.

In college, I occasionally would swap cars with a fraternity brother who had a Jaguar XK 150. It was a fun car but I wouldn't have wanted it as my only transportation....he was always having some little niggling issues with it.
