Excellent photographs of a beautiful automobile. I love the leather strap and buckle assisting with holding the hood down. Very thoughtful.

Great set of a beautiful car, Tom, shouldn't it be painted British racing green?

What a beautiful car in blue. I have always loved the lines of the D type. That color makes them even sexier.

I do prefer the blue myself. However, I'm not sure that the car was painted blue when it raced at Le Mans. British cars usually raced in green colors. Sometime in the later 20's or early 30's ( I don't remember which ) the 4 major countries involved in international racing got together and agreed that each country would select a color for their cars. The British chose green, The French chose blue, the Italians chose red, and the Germans chose white. After a couple of years, the Germans changed their color to silver.

Thanks for looking in.

All I ask is 15 minutes….doesn't seem a lot and won’t be enough, but I don’t want to be greedy…. Nice! 🤗

I'm glad you didn't get greedy. There's hundreds of people wanting the same thing.

Thanks for visiting.

Regarding the leather strap, Dennis, I say better safe than sorry.

I'm glad you stopped by.

Hi, Bob.

I agree with you about the looks of that car. I've always had the D Type Jag on my list of the most beautiful cars.

Hi, Earnest.

Check my responses above to a couple of other posts about the color blue.

See you.

I believe the leather strap might be a racing regulation, not sure. You see them on lots of race cars. I have a model of one on my book shelf that I put together back in 1963. One of the few models I have left. Love that car.

Thanks for looking in and commenting. That belt could well be a requirement.

This car was on the starting line at the 1957 Le Mans Race. Another D Type won the race. this car finished third. It is powered by a 6 cylinder in-line engine with double overhead cams, 3 dual-throat Weber carbs, and produced 270 HP at 6,000 RPM. An identically powered D Type topped out at 185 MPH when run at the Bonneville salt flats.

Great looking car, Tom. I like the lines on this car much more than Jaguar's contemporary XK140 series that most of us think of when think of a 55 Jaguar. I've never seen a D type because I am totally unfamiliar with most race-car only cars of that day. Thanks again for sharing.
