We do occasionally have these little storms that have some rain and wind though. At least it doesn't snow and we a whole different definition of what "cold" means. LOL
My wife and I used to spend a week or two at our timeshare in Orlando in the winter. That was great. We relaxed, swam, went to Disney and Universal and Sea World. Great memories.
My stupid sister-in-law moved there but moved back. "Too hot." She didn't know that Florida was hot? 🤣

I agree, especially with your last statement.

Simple way to quell that theory, write the date the same way as most of the rest of the world.
Yes, in USA 4-8, most other countries 8-4. A M8.4 earthquake is more like a huge Califirnia ones.

My first experience with an earthquake was in Millington, TN in the mid 70’s. Found out that the Mississippi river is part of the New Madrid Seismic Zone which is the most active fault zone in the USA. Second, and subsequent experiences were in San Jose, CA in the ‘80s (San Andreas Fault) - thankfully no injuries to family or friends. One quake was a roller (like a ripple in a lake) and it popped a blimp hangar door off that fell on a couple of vehicles and flattened them.
Those blimp hangers had to be at Moffet Field, right?

Lived in Alaska for 60 years! I was there for the BIG ONE in 1964. I find no humor in earthquakes! They are very serious things!

A lot of lightning strikes in the Tampa Bay area

I'll take that Florida heat any day. What I don't like in Florida is the hurricanes. Lived in Tampa Bay for 13 years. I was on the outskirts of 4 of them. I think earthquakes can be more dangerous, but it depends on where you are in relationship to the center and other factors.
Really! Haha, 4.8 is just a shake...now 6.8 will getcha an E ticket.

Try 9.6 -- for 5 minutes. Alaska 1964! I was there! Very scary to see the ground have 6ft rollers just like the ocean!

I've seen the film...that was amazing. Worst down here in SoCal that I've experienced was the Sylmar quate in '94...at 4am, and "only"6.9. We're still waiting for our 8.0! For the unaware; each tenth on the Richter scale is 10 times strength. i'll still take my chances with a quake
as opposed to hurricanes or living in tornado alley, you gotta be pretty unlucky not to survive quakes around here. Apparently you're willing to risk it, too, lol...
Here in Bristol, Ct some felt the quake others not at all. Our neighborhood is in the "not at all." I was walking the dog. Dog was undisturbed. Neighbors also claimed nothing shook, pets slept through the quake. On the other side of Bristol, houses shook, windows rattled, pets panicked. Wife and I sat on the couch during the afternoon after-shock. Nothing!
