I just don't get it! I spent $1,000 on my tripod, so why would I be so cheap I wouldn't spend another $ 60 to protect it. Just to show you how many people think they need these, the B&H site has ALL the lenscoat tripod leg covers on "Special Order". Must you, with 26 posts, take this to 10 pages. No one has any to sell used because NO ONE uses these! Best of luck.

Maybe…
Because someone spent $1,000 for a tripod, they don’t have the extra $60 for leg cushions!!

Maybe,
They want to buy something else?

Maybe,
They want to feed their families??
Etc.

I didn't spend $1000 for my tripod, so everything is relative.

I have a Manfotto 055 carbon fiber tripod with a wide (28mm+)top leg. The cheap foam no-freeze pipe wraps are too thick to use, the usual commercial neoprene leg covers are very expensive for small pieces of neoprene with edge hook&loop. Has anyone figured out any less costly alternative? Thanks.

Nope. I prefer to pay up or else do nothing.

In some instances, a reliable home brewed solution is simply way too obvious to ignore.

Acoarst in cases of "too obvious to ignore" there is no need to query UHH. Hawgsters have a rather tenuous grasp of the obvious. Their specialty is mucking up the easy stuff.

I use bicycle handlebar wrap tape. It’s cushioned, and thin, made to wrap around a round tube, available in different colors and designs.

I do the same. I searched and found the thickest, softest handle bar tape I could find. Finally settled on a cork gel variety available at most bike and sporting goods stores. Recommend wrapping with about a 1/4 of an overlap. Use 1” electrical tape at the finish end to prevent unraveling. Works like a champ.

I use split foam pipe tubing secured with duct tape,,....readily sold cheaply at any hardware store,.....but then there are also nice form fitted quilted ones with soft cu$hy padding for the more discriminating buyers.
It's going to take a beating during usage anyway,....shop accordingly.
