Thanks for commenting.

It's serendipity that I ended up with this piece of art. I was there to see some of the glass work of a renowned glass artisan. I looked into the room where the wood carving artist has his work on display. It was packed with folks. Like other people whose comments I could hear, I was soon entranced by what I was seeing.

Hi, Beth.

Based on what I had seen at his exhibit, I had high expectations as I opened the wooden box he used for shipment. To say I was stunned is putting it mildly. I called him immediately to let him know how pleased I was. He confided that this was one of the most difficult, but rewarding, pieces he had done.

I agree with that, Earnest. He also had a very affable personality, easy to talk with.

I wish I could pass the " thumbs up " along to the artisan. He's the one that deserves accolades

Hi, Dodie.

I showed the owl to a couple of the people who had organized the event. One of them also had a carving he had done...according to her, a spectacular blue jay. She asked me to bring my carving to the next general meeting of the group and she would bring the blue jay. I can't wait to se that one.

I see we shoot with the same Nikon gear, a D810 and a D750.

I hope you will share photos of the Jay with UHH.

I decided to move up from my D7000 and looked at both the D750 and D810. I was leaning strongly for the 810 but life stepped in and decided some of my money belonged elsewhere. There was still enough for the D750 so I purchased one but the desire for the D810 remained so several years later I made the purchase. Both do all that I need and I'm very happy with them.

I hope you enjoy your D750 and D810 as much as I enjoy mine.

Dodie
