Also Spectrum doesn't seem to increase ther internet price much but they increase their cable TV price greatly. So if you don't want Cable TV you should cancel it.
I was happily surprised to find that all those added fees and taxes applied to cable tv only, not to internet.

Now I know if I see cable tv special for xxx dollars, I need to add at least $15 for the real cost.

So far, my experience with streaming is state sales tax only, except when I tried Fubo for a month. They didn't disclose upfront that getting "local" sports (ROOT and Pac 12) would cost an additional $13

Update: I spent some time on the phone with Spectrum. If I go back to using Roku - and only Roku - I can Search for SpectrumTV and watch broadcast that way. I'll have to connect the Roku and try again.

I just tried again, after attempting a couple of months ago. Figured it out:

Do via your computer: log into your account on the Spectrum website, and find the place where Roku is mentioned under supported devices for the Spectrum tv app.

I did that, then Roku was able to add the app on my tv.

The bad news is when you pay for internet service only, the Spectrum TV Stream (where I live) costs $39.99/month after a free trial.

I don't know what channels are included, but I don't have any interest. From April through October, MLB TV is all I watch (and I have an antenna that gets local channels quite well)

Yeah, they don't make anything easy. It's Roku or nothing.

Well, no, not "nothing." You can keep paying the $200 that includes cable tv

But you'll have to tell them you want your cable box back!

Or, you pay Spectrum for internet only, and then pay somebody else for a streaming service (or several little bodies, such as Netflix and Prime and Disney and Paramount+ and Peacock+). Or, if you are able to view local channels via antenna, and don't care about watching anything else, there's that option.

I dread calling Spectrum, but I'll do that later. Maybe.

Can someone explain this to me? My Spectrum bill lists Cable TV and Internet, with separate charges for each. I do not get any local stations - NBC, ABC, etc. - and I watch TV with Roku, Chromecast, or Amazon Firestick. I have the Internet available for computers and landline. So, what do you think I'm paying for? If I call Spectrum, and if they are able to give me an answer, I'll let you know.

Good gosh Jerry, how do you juggle all this stuff. I have not had a TV, land line phone for 30 years, and do not miss it or need it. I have Spectrum internet only and I stream what ever I want. My time is my most important asset and do waste my time on stupid s**t the TV pumps put. I was paying 17.00 a month for internet but spineless congress dropped and did not renew the Senior 30.00 discount to us seniors. So in May my internet will jump up the either 35 or 46 bucks, but still not bad for what I get. I could drop 5.00 off by using my own Netgear modem but just have not done it.
How do you find time to deal with all these things you post about ?

For me, it's "as is" or nothing. I'm not going back to $200+.

Good luck with your call...

I may have stated the solution in another post(?)

I called Spectrum and got the Technical Support line. I can access TV by using Roku. My Firestick and Chromecast won't work, though. I'll have to connect the Roku and see how that works. Search > Spectrum TV.

When I canceled the $159 package, it would have been nice if they had told me that I would have to get TV through Roku. That was eleven months ago.

With your provider maybe.
With mine internet price goes up, so much of the "savings" of dropping cable goes away.

Absolutely, they're not idiots when they set their pricing.

Some companies are all about revenue with a small compromise.

The Spectrum TV app will not be free, with or without Roku as the conduit for reaching the internet.

When you pay for internet service only as I do, the Spectrum TV Stream costs $39.99/month (where I live), after a free trial.

But if he is paying Spectrum for TV too then he should be able to use the Spectrum TV app for free.

Yes, but if he doesn't have a cable box, he's paying for tv service that he's not using - and at a higher price than $39/month. A conundrum!

Bless your heart Jerry. I will be waiting to see what you find out. I'm considering giving all of their stuff back. Right now I'm looking at a deal from Metronet. I can get fiber install for Internet (1 Gig) for 49.95 monthly. I'm trying to figure out all of the small print. Oh, and it comes with $200 gift card, and free eero wifi router. $178.00 is too much money to watch 6 channels out of 200 with cable, and 500 mb internet, and a Landline phone, plus all of their damn commercials every time you change a channel. Also, it is going up $30 more in early April because the Government is not renewing that program for the Internet for those that qualify for it.

Not exactly...
One provider's pricing (as probably most) is higher for either cable or internet individually. Exch discounted for having both. In other words, if one dropped cable, internet would most likely go up.

YEP!
