I buy and sell LOTS of STUFF, this is NOT uncommon problem, SOMETIMES I GIVE more money and the BUYER corrects it - I am thankful to the buyer [ he was checking to make SURE he got want he wanted mostly, but I have never had a buyer NOT return the money ] ... AT your age, I say ... be at peace you are still UP and about and found someone who wanted to buy it at all... good luck

Thanks. Appreciated.

Count it as a (cheaper) lesson, than realizing after (the transaction), that you thought a $10 bill was a hundred.

I often get anxious at a cashiers station, and give the clerk $5 or more dollars than I needed to.

Thankfully, they are sharper than I am ang give me back the overpayment.
At 76 years old, counting money is not my best foot forward. May be I should just do ATM cards from now on.?

Stop kicking yourself, Wing Pilot.

Oh, I’m over it now. It just stung for a minute, though. No use crying over spilt milk.

Yes, things like that happen. It's called "expectation bias." We expect $500, we see someone count $500, and we count $500.

That’s pretty harsh! 🫤

You're surprised? This is UHH, where "harsh" is SOP.

For the most part I no longer take cash when selling or buying things. I ask them to do an Interac cash transfer, money is in your bank account within 30 seconds, you know it's the right amount and if you are dealing with any dubious characters there is no need to worry about a theft of your cash.

I just tell people, it is safer for you and safer for me, and we get to chat for another minute or so while deciding on the final price, providing your or their email address and for the other side to get a confirmation.

And no counting involved!!!!!

No surprise there. I see it all the time.

Sounds like you were scammed, he counted with you and threw off your count.

For those tossing out judgement, I didn’t post this for that or to invite me being trashed in some manner. It was just a reminder that mistakes can be made and care needs to be taken in these deals. Let’s just let it rest at this having been on both me and the buyer. Thank you.

For what it's worth, I thought your post was fine and helpful as well. It's sad that some people feel the need to criticize
others to feed their ego's, there's already enough of that from just watching the news on TV. ✌🏼
