I buy what's on the market but I won't look back and say why we put up with them. I rather miss them when they broke. Among the things I feel the same are cassette decks, slide rules, calculators (yes calculators of yesteryears) film. etc...
My cassette decks are still in good condition but some of my 40 years old plus calculators have problems and I do feel quite bad about that.

When "Digital" first became available, many established professionals said it was only a novelty and wouldn't last.

Imagine your life as a successful photographer. Does your camera still have a mirror?

When I did photography for a living my go to camera was a 4x5 rail camera. So, no. 🤣

The progress is in the sensor, nowhere else.

The idea of using a display instead of through the lens is reverting to old time when folks were looking from above to focus...

Issues with the display...
- LIGHT!!! If too bright, good luck using the display.
- Eyes issue If one needs glasses all bets are off, there is no way to adjust for that but use the tiny in camera display in the 'view finder'. Go check for accuracy on that since the display is made of tiny pixels vs 'a normal light' (analog)
- Weight unbalance. (Light body, heavy lens)

That is one of the few reasons why I will not upgrade to mirrorless, even if I do appreciate the new sensors.

My grandpa long time refused to upgrade his T model, because he didn't see any advantages of having a gas pedal...

He said things like "feet don't have the necessary touch"...

Same kind of argument.

I have a live view option if I elect to use it.
It's extremely rare that I do though.
Now tell me that my live preview is not "real time"....
I don't need "real time", but it sounds like you do for some reason.
Yea, we each are different, or SHOULD I be shooting in real time? If so, why?
What is so magical about live view/real time???

If I take multiple shots, I cannot see the previous shot preview anymore. It goes away when I shoot another shot, just like mirrorless.

Thanks, but it sounds like you believe things work out better for you than they do for me.

You have completely missed the point. Best of luck.

Did your grandpa had short legs, preventing him to reach the pedals?

I have vision issue (close up)

one thing that has been around for a long time is IBIS, Pentax had this many years ago, so it's not new. It may be improved.

Doesn't matter if you shoot with a mirrorless or DSLR if you don't know the basics of photography. It still comes down to practice, patience, and a lot of luck to make the wall-hanger. I've got a couple of wall-hangers that I did with a point-and-shoot. The one thing for sure: death and taxes. And taxes goes away once you achieve the first one.

You started this thread by stating a bunch of fallacies about mirrorless cameras. You’ve since twisted it around saying that, well maybe there are advantages to mirrorless they don’t matter because your DSLR’s have focus peaking and focus magnification in Live View, after stating you can’t use Live View. You can use what you want, but why do you insist on pushing the lie that an EVF is inferior because of your vision problems when it’s the EVF that allows the technology to help overcome those vision problems?

So do I, the only camera I tested (*) with enough diopter adjustment for my eyes is... TADAAA!! My mirrorless Sony A7C.

(*) I did not test every possible camera/lens combination, there might be others with the same or even better diopter adjustment range.

This makes me think he was in concentration camp...
My uncle survived only long enough to be liberated by the soviets. He died two days later of dysentery.

He was a soldier.

Sorry to hear about your grandpa's fate.
