Good, affordable macro lens for a Nikon D7500.

I've always been very interested in macro photography. I now have a new attachment that has a focus stacking function so, I'm now looking for a decent macro lens. Does anyone have any advice?
As a retired dentist I used a macro a lot in my practice.
I would suggest a 100mm. Your choice of brands. I have a few Tamron and happy with them
I use all of my "F" mount lenses along with Canon and others of my "Z" mount Nikon. True, I do think the fixed focus "Z" lenses are sharper however the Zoom non "Z" lenses work just as well and in some cases are more convenient. Yes, I will aquire more "Z" mount lenses but you can't as far as I know go from "Z" back to "F" but when I can this will open up a hole new avenue. BTW, I use medium format lenses on my 35mm size cameras also but the resolving power of these lenses are less than those made for the 24X36mm size frame.
If you are planning on doing the focus stacking using manual focus, then all the older nikon micros could be used. One very inexpensive option is a 105 f4 ais version which can be had for around $150. It only goes to 1:2 but gracefully accepts extension tubes or bellows if more is needed. For metering enter it as a non cpu lens. Image quality is excellent.
Sigma 50mm macro is a great lens and can be found on eBay for a good price.

With a 50 watch how close you have to be to the subject
That's the one that I'm leaning towards right now.
