Was it the Obama administration that sent assualt weapons to Mexican CRIMINALS now looking for more strict gun laws?
Assualt weapons have never been available to the public since Scarface Capone went to the big house.
You simply cant BUY Automatic weapons, or produce or modify semiautio to full auto.
To obtain a federal firearms license to build, modify, posess, or sell full automatic weapons the BATF investigates you more stingenly than a candidate running for the whitehouse.
FEW people qualitfy to obtain a FFL allowing automatic ( that means assiualt weapons)
Confusion occurs when some idiot poilticians think ANY weapon capable of firing in semi-auto mode is an assualt weapon.
Enforse the laws on the books, 20,000 of them, and lock up offenders.
If a man , or woman for that matter, is bent on killing, gun laws will not deter. The absolute absence of guns will not deter a mruderer, There are many tools that can be used for murder, Chemical, Explosive, booby traps, man traps, car bombs, improvised grenades, etc adnasuem.
Guns are not the problem, murders the insane are.
Remember the chinese fella that cut up 20 students and teachers in China, no gun required.
Anyone can google IMPROVISED EXPLOSIVES and read a cook book of lethal weapons and weapons of mass destruction.
Tim McVeigh ring a bell?
Address the problem, not the symptom.
Was it the Obama administration that sent assualt ... (show quote)

Since the Liberals want another law I have the perfect solution if laws is the answer lets just make it illegal to kill people.

I'll repeat the question I asked earlier. Will someone please define what an "assault rifle" or "assault weapon "is? If it's a weapon that continues to fire as long as the trigger is depressed, then it's commonly called a "machine gun" and they've been illegal for most citizens for a very, very long time.
My definition is easy, a weapon that can kill dozens of people in minutes without reloading! I don't care about folding stocks etc. I also don't think this will solve all killings, suicide bombers, stabbings or spousal abuse but its a start. We have 5% of the worlds population and 50% of the guns. We don't need more weapons!

But we need to keep those we we have to protect ourselves from all the mindless who would decry the Founding Fathers and destroy the Constitution, the Amendments, and our continually fought-for freedoms. I volunteered 8 years of my life to the defense of my country because of what she stand for and stands by.

But we have not been able to protect ourselves from all the mindless with what we have so do we need more? I gave 27yrs off my life to the defense of our country and the carnage continues, more weapons is not the answer!!!!

Huey can't see why America needs laws on gun control - possibly to protect innocents like the children from Newtown. Reddog points out the stupid response from the NRA. Huey please explain to me who in the NRA or ANYWHERE (apart from Law Enforcement or Military)actually NEEDS an assault rifle capable of 6 shots per second with a 100 round magazine or a 50 calibre sniper rifle of a type that has killed an Afghani at 1.7 miles distance. Check your facts - these can be obtained easily in many States. A Federal law which restricts the hunter and range shooter to bolt action 3 shot rifles and revolvers or pistols that can hold no more than 6 shots would be a good start. Of course this would not keep the more dangerous weapons away from criminals so increase the penalty on these to, say, 10 years minimum for possession. At least it would be a start and keep these man-killers (for that is all they are) from kids, the mentally deranged and similar.(I HAVE BEEN A HUNTER AND MEMBER OF A PISTOL CLUB AND LOVED MY RIFLE AND PISTOLS AT THE TIME).

Apparently no-one had any thoughts on my above note.

The NRA, Wingincamera, Huey Driver, alocarlos, MichaelO, Sarge69, Ron K, Marlinman 1, Kazazman, Bruce with a camera and Pigpen all have stated that they are satisfied with the current system, don't want it changed and - in fact - some even want more guns (for every "good man" and for school guards). So apparently they are happy with the current system. Apparently these people, and others like them, are happy with the massacre of the innocents in Newtown and the violence which has continued even in the last few days.
Everything has been blamed for the problem from all of these killers being psychopaths to the media reports encouraging it. All but a fool would know that the reason for the problem is that there are too many guns in America.
The link http://scienceblogs.com/thepumphandle/2012/07/23/gun-violence-is-a-u-s-public-health-problem/
gives a few facts to the situation which should be compared to the Bullsh-t that the NRA and others are continually ramming down our throats.
"Gun violence is uniquely an American problem compared to other industrialized countries. The rate of gun-related deaths per 100,000 individuals in Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom is 0.1, 0.5, and 0.03, respectively. In the U.S., the overall rate is 2.98. And that overall rate doesn’t tell the full story. In some cities, the rates are five to ten times that number. The fatality rate in Los Angeles is 9.2, in Miami it’s 23.7 and in my hometown of Detroit, Michigan the rate is a staggering 35.9 deaths per 100,000 residents. According to data assembled by the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIJP), about 85 people in the U.S. are killed everyday in firearm-related incidents. The most recent available NCIJP data (2007) identified more than 31,000 firearm-related deaths in the U.S., including 17,000 from suicide and 13,000 from homicide/police involvement." This quote is from the above link and it, and the two tables make it obvious that America is no longer "the land of the free" but is "the land of the gun".

And zero weapons except those held by the elite and the national police and military is also NOT the answer.

Artistically, how many f the 9,000 killed were with illegally owned firearms?

I'll ask the question here: how do you intend to protect your family if an intruder is in your house?

Doctors used to put people in an institution, now they just dope them up and send them home.
