I am grateful to have stumbled across this forum. I have been into photography for quite some time as a hobbyist. I am interested in taking my photography to the next level and have A LOT to learn. One of my biggest questions lately has been about making a software choice for editing/processing. Any direction with that, to start, would be a big help! Thanks in advance!

Hi Alisha

Adobe Photoshop for me...its a learning curve that you can Youtube...Google it...Loads of magazines, videos and books (PS5) was my first version on Windows 95 & Win 3.1.... If your serious about photography Lightroom and Photoshop are the only real choices. If its casual then go for elements and Picasa.

Enjoy the Learning Curve have a nice Xmas Keep your fingers crossed that Santa brings you a copy(if you've hinted enough to everyone   ).

Thank you ALL for making me feel welcome and for giving me some ideas! This is really a great difference from the secret competitive atmosphere I've had experience with.

JoboX,
I have done a lot of hinting... Those are the two programs I would love to have. I realize the learning curve is huge though. Thanks and Merry Christmas to you too!

HI, welcome and merry Xmas. If you have Elements 10 you have a very good peice of software that you can use from converting your RAW files to editing jpgs. Incidently its the software I and a lot of others use. If you can aford it your next step from this would be the full photoshop software. But if you are a beginner stick with what you have got and learn to use it,it is a powerfull bit of kit. If you want to know how to do something with the tools clonning etc just ask.

Just purchased Lightroom 4 and a text book guide. I'll see how that goes first. A new 50mm lense also on its way. I'm excited to try it out!

Just some iPhone fun :)
