Maybe putting a "Pull Tab" of masking tape along one side of the battery with a little tail to grab would work?

As it turned out....

Wow, now I feel really foolish. I had tied a piece of string to the lens cap so I wouldn't lose it. The string is black, and I did not see it. Somehow, the string had broken from the lens cap, and it was in the battery well with the battery. I pulled on the string when I saw it, and it came out with difficulty, and so did the battery. Turns out the spring on the floor was not the battery spring, and all is well.

This problem is not nuclear physics. Ive dealt with it multiple times, using a utility knife. Its just too simple and sensible for Hawgsters to grasp (ooooooh, accidental pun ... or would it be dubble entendre ?)

So it was the string that made the battery stuck in the camera and not the battery swelled?

Doesn't mean much.
I knew the guy that invented the shock-absorbing bumper,
but he had to ask how to replace a wall light switch.

Yep. I don't know why I didn't see the black string at first, but once I saw it, and started pulling on it...

Well, the rest is history

Lesson learned- Don't hang all kinds of unnecessary stuff on your camera! Keep the lens cap in your pocket or buy a spare. It's cheaper than a repair bill or a totally destroyed camera. Stings get into things! No stringss attacehd!

At least you weren't looking all over for the spectacles that were perched on the bridge of your nose......😁

I'll bet none of us has ever done such a thing as that!!.....πŸ˜‹

Thanks, Shapiro

I do all those things as much as I can. My experience with Canon lens covers though is that the fall off fairly easily even when they are attached to the camera. The string came with the Canon lens for specifically that purpose. I found though that the strings and the things they are attached to break fairly easily so it was back to square one. At least lens caps aren't too expensive, and with care they can be saved usually. One of my early experiences though was to put my camera over the top of a bridge and the lens cap came off and fell into a ravine well below, and there was no way to get to it. I'm more careful since then.

Well, as a kid I did that with my baseball cap. I thought I had lost it, but it was on my head. Oh, well. It's all in fun.

Hi. My name is Rick. I’m the owner and lead technician at Discount Camera Repair and a member in good standing here at the UHH. I’ve been doing repairs for other members here at greatly discounted rates and would be glad to help.

I'd be more than happy to repair the camera for you and keep the cost as low as possible. If you’re interested, please respond by private message.

That's great. I guess you can disregard the previous email about repairing it for you.
