Wow, Now this is total dedication... I am not giving up all my kits just yet but now do carry in my car a lightweight tripod and QR smartphone clamp already mounted.... You would be surprised how you begin to LOOK for more sites to shoot... If you want to do future landscapes with the FF then do it also... consider the phone cam session a " Scouting trip ". Either way, the MORE you get to incorporate photography in your day to day activities the better.
I messed up my back so walking with a cane till the Chiropractor gets me straight again. Was going to the alligator farm in St Augustine and new I would not be able to manage my camera and big lens. Just used my phone and got pictures that were in some cases better and the rest comprable to my big camera. That made my mind up for me.

Wow! That’s a big step, dumping all that fantastic Sony gear. But I find myself headed the same direction. I believe I’ll wait until the iPhone 16 series comes and and see what the Pro Max model has to offer.
If the I Phone comes out with a camera equivilant to the Samsung might go back. I keep an open mind. Feel a lot lighter now. Have a great weekend Greg.

Thanks, I will. Right now it’s -26˚F, so it will all be indoors.
I’ve done some reading on phone cameras and in comparing the Samsung to the iPhone, it appears, according to the experts, that neither is better than the other, rather each has things that are superior to the other. For instance, apparently the iPhone (15) is better in low light and night shooting, but the Samsung has better color reproduction and a better telephoto/zoom lens. I suspect that, all things considered, it would be hard for one to make a choice which way to go if they were new going into smartphone photography. Anyway, you have a new adventure ahead. Keep us posted. You have a great weekend, too.
I also am not ready to give up on my expensive kits (sony, canon) and high end compact RX100Vii, but it is getting closer to the day of paring them down.
Since my last phone upgrade to the Samsung S22 Ultra, the kits have gotten a lot of rest. If is not moving, my S22 constantly nails focus, color, and lighting automatically that the kits just cant match (automatically).
Some of my disappointment is with all the new bells and whistles on the kits. When looking back at older photos, some of my best pictures that nailed everything well came from the much older Nikon D50, D40, and kit lens. I'm sure that some is from user error with the new stuff but my S22 requires much less user input than my newer kits.
Pictures of grand kids and grand views require mostly just the S22. We all still need the high end gear for the sports and long zoom but that may also change as the tech gets better and better.

Check out the zoom on the Samsung S23 ultra. The ten X is equivelant to a 260 mm (optical) and the 30X is equivelant to a 680 mm this is digital but makes sharp photos. Enjoy your weekend.

Quick question where you on the motors in that cold or a car with a heater. Stay warm and enjoy your weekend.

All I can say at this point is that learning how easy it was to get the Phonecam images into my computer and downloading the latest ON1 software kind of happened simultaneously. I got a new machine and figured I would start from scratch and stop paying monthly and give ON1 a chance. Once you get that phone file into your computer the world is your oyster... Just use any editing app you are familiar with... Adaptive AI can give you a lot of different looks also. I really see no end to what can be done and what software will be able to do in the future.

Did you purchase the ON1 Licence instead of the subscription?
I too got ON1 when it was offered as a "free be on17 Jan this year" only to find that it only lasted for a year and has to be renewed next year when I have to pay for it.
I have now purchased the Photo RAW 2024 Upgrade for £48.01 (UK) and realise that it is only for a year. It doesn't state that on the receipt. I only found that out when I went into my account and saw it listed there for one year.
I have not had the time to activate either programs and will be writing to ON1 for a Licence as I don't want to be purchasing an update every year. I have worked out that the freebee would have cost me £57.24 as that is what is on the receipt, so if three different updates a year I will be paying £252.00 which I cannot afford. It is my hobby and I wouldn't be using that often to warrant paying out that sum of money.
I would like to hear which version you have please.
I too have discovered mobile phone photography and will be posting a photo to be processed further.
Regards,
Heather

Hi Heather.... Your post got me thinking and I had to research exactly WHAT I purchased... I had ON1 previously and I got an offer to UPGRADE to Photo Raw 2024 for 69.00 US. Evidently I will have to pay every time there is an upgrade after my first year... I interpret this as I own this edition. I was currently paying monthly for Photoshop which I cancelled and am Very satisfied with ON1 at the present time, although I am going to buy a book for 2024 to help in the learning process. I did not do the subscription. I hope this info helps you... Bob

Thanks, Bob. Yes, you should be OK, but certainly, you shouldn't have to upgrade every time they issue an upgrade.
Since mentioning it on here I have sent a request to convert what I have paid into a Licence and I will pay the difference.
Like you, I own Lightroom 5 and was looking for a program that is as easy as Lightroom and came across ON1. I haven't used it yet.
I will report back with their response.

Actually I was only really using the Photoshop part of Adobe as I did not like the directory requirements of Lightroom at the time I initially subscribed. I really like ACR in photoshop as I shoot in RAW anyway but in retrospect my self-filing methods have become a disaster. The AI and presets in ON1 are pretty interesting and I am sure the newest versions of Photoshop/lightroom are as well... I will get the new ON1 book and see what I can learn in a year... ON1 has come a long way.
