Wow it doesn't seem like it was that long ago that our group was started! I want to take time to thank all of you for contributing to it's growth. Going forward in 2024 I would like ask everyone's opinion on how we can improve and make it better. Again, thanks everyone for your image submissions and your support.

This group is only going to grow by leaps and bounds in the future... Each iteration of the " Phonecams " with ever improving technology and more sophisticated AI features, is going to draw in more users. Phone cam pics tell one side of the story with their IQ and at the same time I would like to see more technical articles and discussions of the different features and advancements of the diff. brands so we can see where the path is leading us to.... More talk on techniques and editing outside the camera. Just my opinion and we all know about opinions...

Pandora's represents the curiosity and desire for knowledge that can lead to both negative consequences and positive outcomes.

It will be up to everyone in the group to contain the negative consequences whatever they may be.

I know it can be a bit tedious, but I’m always curious about the post processing of smartphone images. Information on the app used and some indication of the scope of the enhancements always helps me.

I am going to compile of list of likes, dislikes, wants to see etc. Until then, duly noted. I'm sure there are others here in the group that are skilled in editing Smartphone images on their phones using apps. I encourage everyone to share their knowledge.

All I can say at this point is that learning how easy it was to get the Phonecam images into my computer and downloading the latest ON1 software kind of happened simultaneously. I got a new machine and figured I would start from scratch and stop paying monthly and give ON1 a chance. Once you get that phone file into your computer the world is your oyster... Just use any editing app you are familiar with... Adaptive AI can give you a lot of different looks also. I really see no end to what can be done and what software will be able to do in the future.

Thanks for starting this group up. Five years ago I really thought of smartphone photography as something quick and dirty, use it as a last resort if you don't have your "real" camera with you. But with all the advances, smartphones ARE real cameras now. And I'm sure liking the portability factor. It's always with you. And the images are starting to rival larger format cameras.

I have only posted here on a couple of occasions. I have a cell phone (Galaxy A51) with a camera not one of the newer cameras with a cell phone. It seemed to me that this Forum was developed because cell phone users needed a safe place to post photos that many uninformed people believed were somehow inferior to photos from "Real" cameras. Well folks, you've proved them wrong.

I think this Forum will continue to grow but more because it will continue to be a clearing house for technical information on cell cameras than as safe place to post photos.

Curmudgeon - My phone is the Galaxy A50, a model year older than yours I suppose? It came out in 2019. Pretty good stuff then. Five years later, now it's getting to be old tech. I'm kind of keen to move up to one of the Galaxy S series one day, maybe putting me only 2 years behind what's current! For example, I can't take RAW images with the A50. However it still does a pretty good job with jpeg's. Here's a sample.

I moved from an IPhone 8+ to the IP 13 Pro Max. It was a nice upgrade especially in improvement of Low Light images. I can take RAW images however I rarely do.

I think one of the high points with this new forum is that it is serving to raise awareness about smartphone photography. It’s obvious that smartphone cameras can take images that go far beyond snaps of the kids’ birthday parties, family gatherings or, shudder, selfies. Each iteration brings more and more sophistication and technology to smartphone cameras and the aftermarket is building up a plethora of accessories and software and other devices for smartphone cameras and photography. This forum can help with education as well as information, and, as is the case with UHH in general, answers from members to questions posed by others. Thanks to this forum “they” can’t accuse smartphone cameras as inferior or those who use them as not being actual photographers. I encourage those who use this forum to inform others about it and encourage them to visit us here and see what it’s all about. It’s not about professional photography, it’s about fun photography.
