I seems to not like the white pier, but have no idea how to improve the photo.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated-including your edits.
Did you try it with a white background? The bird appeared to me a little blue tone? Wasn't sure if it was picking it up off the background.
The original photo was darker, but colors are the same as shot-light edit.
You pose a difficult question... best answered by using the flood tool with low tolerance to color the deck. My opinion is that the white is fine.. perhaps toned down a tad. using the gray from the leg image right.
Thank you, great suggestion. Will try that.
Uta, to see a suggested edit, check "Store original" when you download your photo. That gives us something to edit.

Not distracting to me, but I would just knock down the luminance of the white pier a bit. Don't know what you're using to edit, but selecting the white and just using a levels or curves adjustment might be enough.
Looks good to me. Nice catch.
Thank you! I am glad you like the Anhinga Bird. I have printed a couple cards from it. 🌞
I use Lightroom, Photoshop and Photos tools (iMac)

As Mick would say - paint it black.
